Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan said on Thursday Israel could not do whatever it wanted in the eastern Mediterranean and that Turkish warships could be there at any moment.
"Israel cannot do whatever it wants in the eastern Mediterranean. They will see what our decisions will be on this subject. Our navy attack ships can be there at any moment," Erdogan told a news conference on a visit to the Tunisian capital. (AP)

More jawboning from Erdogan . . . I hope. 2 potential flashpoints in the Eastern Med - 1) Cyprus/Greece/Israel oil exploration that Turkey objects to 2) additional Gaza aid flotillias.

It would take a stupid Naval officer to take frigates within range of land-based Israeli fighters carrying anti-ship missiles.

on a related note . . .
ANKARA, Turkey — Turkey warned Thursday it will declare a border on the continental shelf if the island of Cyprus proceeds with offshore oil and gas drilling activities.
Turkey’s warning also coincides with expected deployment of Turkish warships in the east Mediterranean over Israel’s refusal to apologize for the killing of nine Turkish activists on an aid ship that attempted to break the blockade of Gaza last year.

Islam is self limiting when it comes to technology. They can procure stuff from other nations and educate their affluent in other non-islamic countries to obtain a decent education, but on their own they can never maintain an advanced society.

Hmmm. NATO is attacking a muslim country(Libya)A NATO member(Turkey)is threatening the ally(Israel) of the main lynchpin of the NATO alliance(U.S.)
If Turkey attacks Israel will NATO side with their fellow NATO member? Or do the usual, that being nothing, and run their mouths making empty threats and saying meaningless platitudes?
The U.S. under obama will do nothing. Israel is on their own. That is why Turkey is puffing out their chest.

Turkish “attack ships.” Erdogan is pushing the brinkmanship rhetoric to the dangerous brink? Unfortunately, if he is a true Islamist, just like the Mullahs seeking 72 virgins for their slavish followers, Erdogan won't care if he gets a few of his naval crews killed. They will just serve as useful symbols to rally more attacks against Israel.

Another diplomatic success of the 0bama regime - pitting one of our "allies" against Israel. This should remove any doubt that 0bama is a muzzie, yet he wonders why he is losing the Jewish vote!

NATO will do nothing. Most NATO countries, especially Germany, England, Belgium and France, have massive Muslim populations that need to be placated. The last time somebody tried to wipe out the Jews the French and Belgians stood by and did nothing. The Brits considered it only a secondary concern. And of course the Germans were doing the exterminating.
So Europe will probably cheer Turkey. But they won't actually help Turkey. Israel has nukes as well as missiles capable of reaching Brussels, Paris, Berlin and London. The Turks may be willing to die for the glory of Islam. The French, not so much.

ANKARA, Turkey Turkey warned Thursday it will declare a border on the continental shelf if the island of Cyprus proceeds with offshore oil and gas drilling activities.
Going after Cyprus would be a tempting, but foolish move for Turkey. That island is almost 80% Greek Orthodox religion. Now that won't stop the Turks for conquering it, but it will PO their neighbors to the North. The Russians have decided to use the "Defenders of the faith" argument to buy them some pull in the Balkans. They thumbed their nose at NATO in Bosnia when Russia was at its weakest and the US at the peak of its post cold war, pre 9/11 power. Today with Russia the stronger nation in the region they would not hesitate to get involved if they thought it was to their benefit. Vald doesn't to PC. He's a good old fashioned imperialist.
The real reason would be to split NATO. Gain influence over the Balkans, who justifiably fear the rise of Islam in Turkey. And to cut the Turkish pipelines that are the only competitor with Russian natural gas for Europe. Turks seem to find great satisfaction in how vulnerable Israel is due to US weakness. However they fail to realize how vulnerable Turkey is without that same protection. Vlad would love to take out the competition. And neither Erdogan or Obama are in his league.

This is what happens when the United States withdraws its Navy from the Med so Premier Hussein can “Lead From Behind” and spend the “savings” on his socialist schemes.
The Turkish Navy can probably do whatever they want in the Med without interference.

Note place any bets on that. The Iranians are making a pretty good run at self developed technology that has us fit to be tied. Yeah - they do have a lot of bluster about their military prowess - mostly BS, but their is a kernel of truth to all of it. They have upgraded missile technology, and they have developed a nuclear program while being under an international embargo.

Turkey has about 250 F-16 Aircraft...about 50 of which are Block 50.
19 Frigates, 14 type 209 subs and a few corvettes.
They cannot project power via air or sea against Israel.
They are BLUFFING. They have no capability to hinder Israeli operations in the Med.
And, the idea the could push their very large army through Syria and Lebanon without air cover or control of the adjacent sea lanes is little more than a suicide watch.
