Machines that dispense gold bars are set to make their debut in Beijing on Sep 23.The machines will dispense gold bars weighing up to 2.5 kilograms and work just like the normal automatic teller machines (ATMs), cnr.cn reported, citing sources close to the matter.
The machines can accept both cash and credit cards. The cash-for-gold machines will be on trial at Beijing's upscale clubs and private banks during the initial period for security reasons.
The gold ATMs have been launched by German company TG Gold-Super-Markt and are at present in existence in countries like the United Arab Emirates, Spain and the US.
Dearborn probably has one.
2.5 Kilos is over $160,000
Though the article said that the machines carry upward of 2.5 kilo gold bars, it didn’t specify any particular machines as actually having those bars.
It is likely that any such machines in the States would be near populations that see value in those machines, like Muslims, which makes Dearborn one of the likely places to have those machines.
What’s bad is when you go to hit A7 for a gold bar but accidentally hit A6 and get a Twix bar instead.
And what’s worse is when you pay for the gold bar, and it gets stuck in the screw thingy. The next guy who comes along gets two gold bars on your dime.
Man... stupid vending machine won’t take my $1,000 bill. Hey buddy, you got a crisper bill I can trade you?
In my dream last night, we were accepting small stainless steel “coins” with no markings and mixing them with our US $.
They use to have them in LA but the gang bangers hauled them off gold, machines and all.
