Republican Party leaders, who only a few weeks ago viewed the GOP presidential nomination race as wide open, now consider it a two-man contest between Rick Perry and Mitt Romney, and they are choosing sides in what many think could be a long and potentially divisive campaign.

bert... I'll give you this... Perry had balls to call social security exactly what it is... and Perry never strapped his dog to the top of his car and then proceeded to drive through a thunderstorm. romney loves him some socialist security and... well let me just say... I would not want to be mitt's dog.

For some reason I think Newt will work himself back into the conversation. He came across as highly Presidential and bright in the Reagan debate.
Finally, I think that if Jim DeMint decided to run, he’d not only be the instant frontrunner, but would unite conservatives of all stripes a lot more than any of the current candidates do. Anyone have any insight why he’s not running?

LOL..after Sarah declares....both of ‘em will be history...

If Palin decides not to run and we are left with just these two, our family will certainly vote for Perry. Unfortunately he doesn’t appear to come across as well as a public speaker as Romney but look where that got us with Obama. I know personally that Perry hates to make a speech to a huge crowd - another reason to vote for him. He is 180 from my position on illegal immigration but hates big government with a passion.

Romney’s support is illusory. He lost already. Perry will be the nominee and POTUS unless someone else jumps in.

You are right. Gingrich has done nothing but dominate the debates. He is clearly the smartest and most articulate guy in the room. I think he should be Perry’s Cheney.

Perry never strapped his dog to the top of his car and then proceeded to drive through a thunderstorm. Did he do this, SERIOUSLY? LOL! Never heard this before. The mental image is hilarious! So Chevy Chase

I don’t trust Perry. He’s too liberal on issues.
But I really, really, REALLY HATE Romney. He’s beyond a phoney.

After Iowa and New Hampshire, Romney will be history. Both of them will be history. A snake-oil salesman and a Mormon, let the tykes fight in their sandbox, but in the end, wave bye bye.

Maybe it would be prudent to help the current front-runner defeat Romney then?
Just a thought.
