Did President Obama's positions on Israel cost him a seat in the House? The Republicans have scored an upset victory in a House race that started as a contest to replace New York Rep. Anthony Weiner, who was forced to step down following a sex-texting scandal, but became a referendum on US President Barack Obama's policies.
Retired media executive and political novice Bob Turner defeated Democratic state Assemblyman David Weprin on Tuesday in the special election to fill the seat vacated by Weiner, a seven-term Democrat who resigned in June.
According to the New York Times, Turner took advantage of the discontent among the Jewish community with (Obamas policy toward Israel) and his conduct pertaining to the Middle East peace process.

From sending back to England Winston Churchill's bust to the bowing and apologizing to foreign potentates for American Exceptionalism to the latest with Jeffrey Immelt taking hundreds of GE jobs to China with the apparent blessing of Obama......our foreign policy is ZERO as well as a mystery in the land of Hillary & Obama Land.
I hope this is just a first sign that American Jews are finally putting their country, their religion and Israel ahead of their beloved Marxism.
It would be a shame for all loyal Americans and Israel if this is just a passing anomaly. They have let us down in the past and I hope the past remains the past and they have learned from their great mistake.
this was more about gay marriage.
(Dem candidate voted for gay marriage in NY State Senate, in the narrow win for gay activists).
Jews voted for a catholic guy over a fellow Jew. That’s why this election is so mind boggling.
My co-religionists in the outer boroughs just put the world on notice that an anti-Israel American foreign policy is political suicide here.
I believe the following to be true:
a. The majority of Jews vote Dem.
b. The Dems are, on average, anti-Israel.
I’ll never understand a. but b. makes no sense either. Maybe someone can enlighten me.
My oldest son, who had voted for Obama (long story), became a Christian (evangelical and all that) a few years back. He had maintained his “like” of Obama all this time (Its just so COOL to have a Black President). But recently, he has changed his mind, especially over the treatment of Israel. God bless him, and thats one less Obama voter.

The leftists want Turner’s win to be all about Israel so that they can spin it as being local to highly-Jewish districts of which there are few.
If Turner’s win is also because of gay marriage and the economy then this is more widely applicable and thus worse for the ‘Rats.
Yup. I know what was really going on beyond the Ed Koch endorsements and speeches. And it was not just because he voted for a bad bill but the realization that if Weprin were to win and go around with a yarmulke, it would be such a major embarrassment for the Jewish community. Even worse than Weiner, who never considered himself to be religious.
About time the joooooooooos in America woke up.
I certainly hope this was the factor in not supporting the Israeli State. I’ve read that Jews under barry are more worried about their own money and how barry will end up with it especially if he gets another term.
One of the things Rush has often pointed out about the MSM is they will decide a reason for a Dem losing that fits their spin, and totally ignore the real reason because it undermines them. For instance, in reality McCain lost the important SC primary for 2000 not because of dirty Bush campaign tricks, but because for some reason (stupidity?) he dissed evangelical Christians a couple of days before the election.
The MSM wants to make this about Israel. But the real reason is Welprin voted against traditional marraige, which infuriated people of faith all over NY. The MSM won’t admit that.
Well, I hope they are. They should be as should everyone.
There is nothing wrong with being worried that the federal government is going to seize and waste your money. They do and they will.
I hope every Democrat district nationwide becomes increasingly filled with 'Rats who are worried that Barry intends to rob them blind.
I agree...it is just that critical...and am happy the American Jews have stood up against the dems finally. Thanks to barry the dems have jumped the shark. I hope the jews connected with Hollywood do the same as they did in NY-9.

Ed Koch made it about Israel and that launched the campaign. but what really got people off their rear ends to vote was the gay thing. And it’s not just about religion. Secular Russian Jews are more about the capitalism but they are also really turned off by gay freaks.
They fear Christians more than they love Israel.

Thank goodness a whole bunch of Jewish people are waking up to the reality of 0bamas anti-Jewish policies, and thank goodness the shock has been great enough to cause them to start pulling the not-Democrat lever for the first time in their lives. And after that first wayward pull, subsequent ones become oh so much easier. Hopefully, after enough thoughtful pulls, a lot of Jewish folks will start thinking like independents instead of like Democrat robots.

Yes it is very mind boggling but what was always more so IMO was a people who were nearly exterminated from the face of the earth by Socialists, Communists, and Marxists developing such a great love of Marxism and big government in the first place.
Here we have a brilliant group of people who knew first hand big all powerful governments would exterminate them in a heart beat yet they aligned themselves with the same group of "ists" hiding behind the skirts of Progressives.
