If there was any question about the breadth and magnitude of the plunge in President Obama's job-approval rating this summer, consider this new data point: For the first time, fewer than half of voters in deep-blue California approve of the job Obama is doing, according to a new Field Poll released early Wednesday.
Just 46 percent of voters approve of the job Obama is doing, while 44 percent disapprove. That is eight points lower than the previous Field Poll, conducted in June.
Obama has lost ground among all groups. His approval rating is 10 points lower among Democrats, 2 points lower among Republicans, and a whopping 13 points lower among independents, down to 45 percent among that key group.
Obama has lost 10 percent of men and 6 percent of women. His approval rating is nine points lower among white voters and three points down among Hispanics. It dropped 6 points among voters aged 18-29, 10 points among voters in their 30s, 7 points among voters in their 40s, 8 points among voters aged 50-64, and 10 points among voters over 65.

Don’t read too much into this.
A lot of the LEFT think that he’s not doing enough damaging stuff to the economy..............................
We are looking at a potential Regean like landslide with Perry playing the part of Reagan.
And another amnesty for illegals. Great.
The pro-America, hard working black American has to be so disappointed in the “1st black president.” He has played into every negative stereotype about blacks and has damaged race relations more than any single person in my lifetime.
Might delay California from getting out of the Leftist political cycle we are stuck in though as all too many IMO are, and will be blaming their California nightmarin’ on Obama instead of the Democrat Congressional Senate Representation, the Democrat State Legislature primarily, and the Governor.
Most Obama voters in CA believe the O is not liberal enough. The flock will vote for him in 2012 if their choice is Zero and say... Perry.
This is true: “A lot of the LEFT think that hes not doing enough damaging stuff to the economy..............”
His black thug/welfare supporters will vote for him reqardless of what he does as will his uber liberal core.
However, he is in free fall with the real independents of all ages.
I’d like to see the republican candidate take 50 states.
Obama can have the other 7.
We don't need a landslide; we need a conservative win. Perry is simply untrustworthy. I'd take Cain, Bachman, or even Johnson first (because I know he'd get a handle on the bureaucracy).
That's true, and as you say, this should be a warning to us to be weary of polls like this one.
There's another dynamic at work, just below the surface, however. Turnout can be affected by any number of things, small things, that may affect the willingness of someone to go to the trouble to get to the polls.
Barack Obama, long an embarrassment to those who cherish the foundational principles of this country, is beginning to become an embarrassment to his own constituencies. Blacks especially. Young people don't want to talk about Obamacare. Union rank and file want the jobs drilling for oil and natural gas would provide. This is a complete train-wreck for the left.
Lefties I know do not want to talk about Obama, they are embarrassed, they may not vote against him, but they're tired of defending him.
Imagine if Jackie Robinson had been a .100 hitter.
If that is their thinking, wouldn’t Jerry brown’s numbers follow a similar pattern? After all, what difference is there in the economic policies of the Obama and the Brown administrations?
Correct. I unfortunately work here in Los Kalifornia. He’ll win here but it won’t be the numbers most people think he can get.
“Imagine if Jackie Robinson had been a .100 hitter.”
You said a mouthfull there.
