As much as half of North Korea's army is starving as food shortages that were previously affecting only the civilian population worsen and begin to affect institutions tasked with protecting Kim Jong-Il's regime.
Disaffected North Koreans working secretly as journalists within the country for the Japan-based Asiapress International news agency have smuggled out video footage of interviews with soldiers in different parts of the isolated country, with many complaining of malnutrition.

Your post brought back memories. I lived within smelling distance of a bakery, actually all they baked was bread that was delivered to markets but they also had a small retail outlet where you could buy still warm from the oven bread, either sliced or unsliced.
I’m not that big on bread but that stuff was irresistible.
The grip that the NK Communist Party has on the country can only be broken by a stronger internal force. And that force is the Army.
Despite China's fears about a massive refugee exodus, the best thing to do at present is nothing but wait in armed watchfulness as events unfold.
When the Army gets hungry enough, things will change. This will not be a top down change and given the character of Koreans when provoked beyond endurance, the change will be very fast and very violent.
My sympathies are with the common people of North Korea, who have been prisoners of a narcissistic totalitarian regime since the end of WWII.
Historically the massive death of an opposing force isn’t quite such a bad thing. War is hell, soldiers die.
The idea of course is to make the other sumbitch die for his country or ideology first.
Geez, that was brilliant. Expect a round-up of journalists very soon.
“Just a week or so ago, I saw a documentary on North Korea.
I do not recall what channel. It was probably either Natl.Geo
or History. Anyway, it was on my satellite system.
It really made North Korea look like a quite civil place...
Very neat and orderly, both rural and metro.
The people looked happy and patriotic.
Obviously the documentary was quite censored, with each and every frame.”
Cameras lie.
“A thought to ponder on the next story about China..
Wonder if they OWN the present administration...

Many months ago Rush challenged Barack Hussein to prove that the Chinese Communists don’t pay his salary.
He hasn’t denied it.
To wear down the resistance of the North Koreans, the US on the DMZ needs to have huge barbeques every day, with lots of meat, especially pork, and anything else that has an irresistible aroma. Like that scene in Sahara where the Germans, dying of thirst, are watching the Allies, who have water, practically bathing in it.
Pity,
The food we throw away daily they’d be in disbelief to have.
In 1974 when I was in Korea I was amazed how damn near everything was recycled. Poor folks would even collect broken glass and take it to be recycled.
