Just amazing how this formerly lovely and American-to-the-core state has turned into a total mockery of everything that is good. I don’t understand how any honest and decent Christian could continue living in that cesspool.

They will lose money, only people who drive very little will buy the insurance. Hopefully for their sake they are good drivers.

People swallow this cr*p.
We pay for the miles we travel by the amount of gas we use. duh.

This is simply a way for the gov’t to monitor how many miles we drive and where - tracking.

And ration books will follow - your ‘allowance’ based on hos many miles YOU need to get back and forth to YOUR job and grocery store.

this is ONLY about control

On a percentage basis, you drive less, you have fewer accidents? You might think so. But insurance rates are based on population of drivers, not frequency of use. The probability of someone being in an accident is a function of the number of potential automobiles involved, not frequency.

It is true if you didn’t drive at all you’d be less likely to have an auto accident and your rates could be lower. But just as probable is the one time in 3 weeks you do drive and you’re involved in an accident caused by you or someone else. This insurance company will lose big time, unless they have many hold harmless clauses predicated on “were you driving more than you said you would”. The, uh, “we won’t Pay” clause. Really silly idea.

A couple of years ago when gas was well over $4 a gallon, I drove my one ton dually Checy only 398 miles. I wonder how State Farm would have handled that????

My 4x4 crew cab truck sees a lot of miles, so this might cost me too much. My Jeep sees pretty few miles (it’s a toy), so maybe this plan would be good for the Jeep.

Like that will really work.

One can think of N reasons why it won’t (where N is a large number), but what the heck...’tis useless to use math and logic with a liberal...especially CA libs ... who shamelessly occupy the intellectual bottom in the spectrum of liberal incompetence.

Moronic.

We Mexifornians value our state as a CAR STATE. It’s almost impossible to drive around Socal without a car. I would tell you the story 5 years ago taking the last known bus from Compton to Hollywood at midnight, and Freepers will think I’m racist..

This one just begging to be abused. How will they go about verifying miles driven? GPS tracking? If they’re trusting odometers they may be taking a bath on this

There are a whole lot of Californians who are going to be awfully mad at this. The commuters are going to be very upset that others will pay less.

I bet the people behind this effort are those who are pushing the "fast-speed" trains...unions and such.
