Will Bob Turner shock the world? Will Obamas unpopularity cause the Democrats to lose a seat they have held for 90 years? Results from NY-9, formerly known as The Weiner Seat, will be posted here as soon as I get em. If you see them first, pop them in comments. If you live in the district or near it, let us know what youre seeing and hearing.

If the Dem wins, the race is an endorsement of Obama and a sea change in the political environment.
If the Republican wins, the race is purely local and has no meaning in national politics.

Id bet on the fraud of the Democrats to pull out a win; Very possible. But voter fraud takes time, and money. The Dems may not have had enough of a heads up to organize it. Plus, in Texas anyway, the folks who do the fraud on the ground, are not at all unhappy to see an occasional loss, when they haven't been paid to create large numbers of votes. It just shows their utility to the party. I put this in the Scott Brown category. Taking the seat is one thing. Keeping it is another thing altogether. Which is encouraging for tonight.

Here are some benchmarks to keep in mind as you watch the results:
“Update: Benchmarks via Sean Trende:
In 08, Weiner carried Brooklyn portion of NY9 52/48. Queens = 65/35. Queens = 70% total vote.Theres your benchmarks.
Update: More benchmarks via Nate Silver:
NY09 over/under line: Weprin (D) would need about 54% of the votes in Queens precincts, 42% in Brooklyn precincts, to tie Turner (R)”

that can only mean one thing. Someone needs to get some fake ballots and jam them in a trunk so they can be “counted”..
