He seems slow on his feet, a la GWB in the debates. We need someone who can trounce Obama in the debates, and Rick Perry isn’t that person.
He seems slow on his feet, a la GWB in the debates.”
In reading the press this am, I was reminded that GWB wasn’t great in debates.
Nor do I think that the debates matter all that much.
Point taken, but TOTUS won’t be at a Perry/Obama debate to tell Obama what to say. If Perry is the candidate he’ll have had plenty of practice deflecting arrows by then.
You are exactly right. Perry had an awful night, and he does seem slow on his feet and inarticulate. We need someone who is going to be relentless against Obama in the debates.
Newt, Bachmann and (gulp) Romney are the most relentless. That’s what I want to see.
I’m leaning Newt right now. Articulate, competent, elder statesman. He does have a lot of baggage, though.
I’m not in love with any of these candidates.
Perry has never done particularly well in debates, IMO. I remember when there were three candidates for governor last time around here in Texas: Perry, Kay Bailey and the woman libertarian whose name escapes me. In a 3-way debate, the libertarian seemed the most effective to me. However, she later made a statement that implied she was a "9/11 truther"; and that was the end of her (why do the Pauinistas keep doing that?)
Of course, in the end, Perry won re-election handily, in spite of his debate handicap.
