Does he have a habit of that? Is that his record? Or is it an outlier? Is he normally a government interventionist? If so, let’s here about something other than the damned gardisil issue. If there’s more there, put it out there.

I think that will come out over the course of the campaign. That’s part of the reason for campaigns; to vet the candidates. If the other candidates do their job, and the press actually reports it, then we’ll get a pretty good picture of what and who Gov. Perry is. Warts and all.

I’m not a Texan so I don’t follow their politics closely. I do know that from a gun rights perspective, Texas is odd. For a state that is as “conservative” as it supposedly is, they have some pretty arcane gun laws that would be more typical in a state like say, Maryland. Gov. Perry is clearly not all that concerned about gun rights or over a space of 10 years some of that would have changed. And then there is the trans-Texas corridor.

So far the picture that is emerging is that of a sunshine conservative.
