Palin even went as far as to lend her voice to the charge leveled by Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) during the debate against Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R): That he allowed a law to go though requiring HPV vaccinations for adolescent girls because of a $5,000 campaign donation and his relationship with his former chief of staff, who went on to lobby for a pharmaceutical company.
"I knew there was something to it," Palin said of learning while she was Alaska's governor that her Texas counterpart had given the go-ahead to the vaccine. "Now we're finding that now, yea, something was up with that issue. It was an illustration or bit of evidence of some crony capitalism."

It’s not just taking a contribution. Its taking a contribution and then giving a favor like Perry did.
Sarah did no favors for oil companies. In fact she was their worst nightmare.
It’s right by the part where all non Perry supporters have to shut up. I learned that from a freeper on a Perry thread last week. If we have to shut up, Palin does too so they can anoint a candidate Obama style. See? Simple.
Now just shut up and never raise a concern ofer RP EVER AGAIN! ;)
Perry has regulatory power over federal agencies like the National Cancer Institute? That’s amusing.
They didn't. Perry took it upon himself to mandate with an executive order. Then, the legislature apparently disregarded this super-fantastic info you have shown us and overrode him on this brilliant idea that you are pushing for, which Perry now admits was a mistake.
Do they do business/operate in Texas?
Amusing indeed.
I thought about supporting Rick Perry once, but his supporters really turned me off with their horrible attempts at spinning his record.
I think Perry’s supporters are becoming a liability.
My God, man, this guy could be SATAN!!! Ever think of that?
Dear Lord....I’ve been reading about this Guardicil issue for hours now. Who give a fig? That is a non-issue as far as being presidential is concerned. However, there are some real issues that will prevent me from ever voting for Perry. His friendship with the Muslim prince and pushing the Islamic studies into the public schools in TX. Then there is his dream to have a huge highway running from Mexico across the U.S. and his support for amnesty. Besides, he looks and sounds like a used car salesman. Smarmy. Even Mitt looks good compared to him. Sorry, I don’t “read” any presidential qualities in the way he operates. Don’t anyone bother to respond. I won’t be here.
If you want to be unfriendly, I can do that. According to my “mail”, there are a few who actually got my point with no problem and bothered to say so. If my posts give conflict just ignore them. Sarah isn’t running, which is really your basic problem, and morphing her into Joan of Arc has turned out to be both ineffective on Perry supporters and evidently unpersuasive to Palin herself. You ought to write her about that. You’ve tried hard. You deserve a reply.
The leprosy lobby probably couldn’t raise enough money to sway him. (Remember, he said last night that his price is higher than $5k)
The Coke people could probably afford it, but they’re not promoting New Coke at the current time. They’ll get back to him when they can.
As for M&M Mars, I’ve heard rumblings that they’ve paid many to shut up about the color scandal. Perry may be one of them and we may never know the truth.
All that’s in the past with the whole Gardasil and TTC issue. But if the man is for abusing harmless armadillos, he’s definitely Satan for sure.
Perry supporters I can deal with, annoying as some are, but Perry has a metric ton more crap to account for that Guardasil that they blow off.
The media is just warming up the colonoscopy machine.
TTC
Gore going rabid eco on Nova in 83 (contrary to Perry’s claims he is a recent eco nut)
LaRaza
Border issues/fence
Muslim issues
And that’s just to begin with. Each of these is going to get far harsher treatment than we on FR provide. And they are ALL legitimate issues he needs to address. No one cares that Perry supporters blow them off but they, themselves. Every other person/outlet there is VERY curious. Palin’s colonoscopy came back positive and that drives the Perry supporters insane. Why? Is having a good candidate a bad thing somehow?
Perhaps if one’s own candidate may not measure up.
Is widdle Rita upset that shes being picked on? You aren’t Rita, and your imaginary friends can say anything they like.
They do seem to tell you funny things though. Might want to get that checked. I can only help guide you off the PDS path. Such is my calling as Chief Druid of the Cult of Palin.
Interesting choice of words there slick. Care to expand on them?
;-)
As far as I’m concerned, no harm, no foul my friend.
No apologies for the gaping holes in your argument though, right?
Actually they did. I show the historical context to demonstrate this was not some lone gunslinger making his own corrupt side deal with Merck like Bachmann and others imply.
To believe this was a favor for Merck, all those people who worked on that report, including people from Merck's direct competitor Glaxo-Smith-Kline, have to be in on it because they specifically called out the vaccine as the means of attaining the legislature's goal.
Perry admits using an executive order was a mistake, not the public policy.
The Texas legislature was offended he took this action without their explicit authorization and questioned his authority. I learned today the medical community was upset his opt-out was not required to renewable yearly, a policy goal they had in 2007, but one-and-done. Add in push back from the kooky anti-vax community and those who think this vaccine is a comment on their daughter's morals and you get perfect storm.
He made a mistake with the order. He's admitted that mistake.
Perry was widely praised for taking this action by the NY Times and others in the press.
Charges of corruption demand evidence and there just isn't anything but innuendo which falls flat in the face of the hard history.
Bachmann's on with Hannity talking up Romney and throwing Perry under the bus on social security.
