Palin takes aim at GOP presidential candidates
The Hill ^ | September 12, 2011 | Josh Lederman

Palin even went as far as to lend her voice to the charge leveled by Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) during the debate against Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R): That he allowed a law to go though requiring HPV vaccinations for adolescent girls because of a $5,000 campaign donation and his relationship with his former chief of staff, who went on to lobby for a pharmaceutical company.

"I knew there was something to it," Palin said of learning while she was Alaska's governor that her Texas counterpart had given the go-ahead to the vaccine. "Now we're finding that now, yea, something was up with that issue. It was an illustration or bit of evidence of some crony capitalism."

When did he admit it was a mistake? The last I saw was him sliming the Legislature over killing this and calling them murderers.

I’m really not talking about Perry or Palin, only about people who call the ability to “opt out” the same thing as “parental rights”. I do believe that Perry has learned from that mistake and don’t necessarily hold it against him, but it does make me a bit gun shy of the guy.

Well, I dont need to recite SLC Olypics, the Godfathers Pizza story etc., if you dont know their bios looks them up, but you have named 3 candidates who have done more good for the country than Barack Obama, even as private citizens.

The evil Gardisil program has an awkward, cumbersome phony opt out clause. And the phony opt out demands all shots or none, no parental choice or medical input. One size does not fit all for a true conservative. And his executive order attempts reveal a true Statist.

True, but it wasn’t the $5,000 that he sought, it was the Mega-Billions that the Pharma poison vendors spend on political ads that Ricky was counting on.

so I ask, what is her role?

Her role? She is a LEADER!

"I'm getting kind of a kick out of this," Palin said, claiming that the day after she brings up an issue, she notices the candidates adopt that issue in their stump speeches. "It's like come on candidates, it's about time you started talking about that."

Not the first time they did this either!

Perry has, at minimum, the appearance of financial tomfoolery RE: his office and ‘pay to play’ allegations. They need vetting whether Perry supporters like it or not.

Very true. I think there's a lot to like in Perry, and I'd vote for him, whereas even against the counsel of Rush, Levin, and Palin, I'd refrain from voting for Romney because long and careful analysis on this has led me to conclude that in the long run, Romney would be worse for the USA than four more years of Obama, who, if he won, would be even more loathed and reviled by the people AND battled by Congress than he is now.

But back to the point at hand, that there's at least the appearance of something awry with Perry and it needs vetting. With Palin, there was the appearance of things awry. Two in particular come to mind: her resigning the governorship before she had finished the term, which her detractors claim happened because she couldn't take the political heat; and the passage of ACES, which sources such as Mother Jones, Huffington Post, the MSM in general, and many moderate Republicans, referred to as a "windfall profits tax."

Did those charges need and deserve vetting? DAMNED RIGHT THEY DID, because if they'd held water, they'd certainly be good reason not to support Palin. So I spent many, many hours digging and reading. I vetted them, and had the truth not been squarely in Palin's favor, I'd not be encouraging others to support her here on FR.

Perry is every bit as much worth vetting as Palin or any other Republican. When folks object to it, those folks are asking everyone to allow themselves to be manipulated and deceived.

You havent answered the questions. Try again.

“It makes the default the gov’t choice and the partent’s decision to “opt out” is secondary.”
The default is the choice that will save lives. Nothing is ‘secondary’. The choice is AVAILABLE.

“Because it’s backwards.” Circular reasoning doesnt trump public health.

But would she still be standing if she continued her duties as Governor? It is easy to quit while you are ahead. Although facing some difficult situations like immigration, Perry did not walk off the job. Sarah could not even get her candidate elected in her own State but she will miraculously get the President elected for the Country? Even Rush is criticizing the Perry attacks. Wake up people.

It’s not circular reasoning at all. You’re defense of the “opt out” position is like saying that the govermnent will come and take your property away from you. You can “opt out” if you present some kind of case for justification, and the government will then review your case and make it’s final decision.

My position is that I would rather have the option of voluntarily giving my property to the goverment and if I choose not to I don’t have to fill out any paper work or present any case for justification. Peroid.

It really shouldn’t be that hard to understand. It’s called “liberty”.

Cain has NO proof he can get us out. Don’t equate having the fire for pepperoni pizza as having the fire for our country!

REMEMBER! Cain stated he sides with Barry and that AMERICANS should NOT see the photos of bin laden but the ‘officials’ can! Up yours, Cain - leave the stage and take the big gov’t with you. You can speak alot about conservatism but the first chance you got - you showed the real ‘controlling’ you!

I have no desire to see them but that doesn’t take away my right or other Americans to see them.

You have to be joking.

Perry has already sealed the deal with Big Pharma for Billions in political advertising, because they know that he is in their pocket, just like another former Texas governor.

The biggest beneficiaries of this dust-up are Romney, Obama and the MSM. What it has most succeeded in accomplishing, imo, is to tarnish all three of them - Perry, Bachmann, and Palin. There are things I like and admire about all three, so this sucks.

Hey...lose your mind already k?

Her sole job since 2008 has been traveling around speaking out. To imply everybody else is ‘less’ because they didn’t speak out like her is a slanted viewpoint. She’s had the floor for the past 3 years so the perception is that she has been the only one speaking out; which is untrue.

YOU must be joking — BILLIONS in political advertising? Really? And pray tell, how will be they be for Perry and for Obama Care at the same time?

All of which is beside the point, he SHOULD come out stronger against his previous decision regardless - from a campaign point of view.
