Debate #3 (Aug. 11, 2011 in IA) (Live thread)
Perry’s right. If the Feds don’t take care of the bydnis, the States have to accept what they’ve got.
I don't give a crap what they think about each other, and the encouraged bickering is sickening. I want to know what they think about THEMSELVES.
Why do Republicans do something this asinine? Stop acting like complaining children. This is a serious election. Stop infighting. The other candidates aren't the problem. Oboma is. We'll take ANYBODY but Oboma.
The Pizza Man is my main man!
Dumb stuff time: What would you bring to the WH?
Who cares???????????????
ANYONE know where the transcript can be linked to?
Santorum, Gingrich, Romney all did well tonight. Perry absorbed the blows and while I do not like any form of any “Dream” act, I like his explanation of why he did it and what the Dream act of Texas is.
Bachmann needs to learn to answer the question she is asked and to not lie about others positions, in the HPV order, there was an opt out. If there was an opt out, it is not “force.” As one that rails against the mandate in Obamacare, she should know the difference.
Cain did not hurt himself but I can’t see him moving up. Huntsman is an idiot.
The only real loser tonight was Wrong Paul. The man is flat out dangerous on foreign policy.
Why do I feel that the best mans there this evening (in no particular order) Cain, Gingrich, Perry, won’t win this nominations?!
I have only just gotten online and on the TV, here in Comcast land, the menu says :CNN - TEA PARTY REPUBLICAN DEBATE
What kind of Horse manure is that? Ticks me off. Turning off CNN
FWIW, probably not much, here is my ratings on the Tea Party Debate. Surprisingly, CNN did a better job than Fox and DNCMSNBC in moderating the debate.
1. Gingrich - winner or second place for the third time for the effective zingers he got in. Unquestionably the best debater, but modified by the fact that nobody is going after him because he doesn’t have a chance.
2. Bachmann - stood her ground and won the Gardisil and wetback debate with Perry; she still seems somewhat one dimensional with the Obama care business but overall the stood out from the non-Newt crowd.
3. Huntsman - again exuded confidence and won all barb throwing contests; yes I know he’s a lib but hey this is about debate points.
4. Santorum - kicked Perry’s derriere and Paul’s derriere on several issues, but he was riding on the back of Bachmann on most of them; nevertheless, his overall best performance of the debate season; he does need to stop talking about winning elections since he got his derriere kicked in his last race and also endorsed Specter (a James Bond enemy).
5. Romney - he actually engaged and looked at those who were speaking (unlike Perry who seldom looked at the speakers) and held his own even though the crowd obviously had some animosity toward him. He was engaging and affable (he out politicianed Perry the supposed master politician).
6. Perry - lost big time on the subject of Gardisil and wetbacks (state tuition for wets); that overshadowed any other good points he might have scored earlier. He’s going to have to get his feces together better if he wants to get into prime time.
7. Cain - 9/9/9, what else did he say? A nice guy, but nice guys finish last, or in this case next to last.
8. Paul - the Village Idiot is...well just the village idiot.
Note: Bachmann also handled a post debate interview with John Queen (or is it King) well. Maybe, hopefully, her ability to deal with the media is improving.
I had no agenda in the ratings, but if you’ve got the propane, flame away.
bump for tomorrow.
I would have thought by now they would have reported on some phony instant MSM polling?
Not a believer in polling, but it gives an indication of which way the pollsters are going to go with this. As we all know the pollsters are all MSM or Rep est, so I do get a kick out of them.
Any thing?
CNN - Actually did a fairly good job, I will give them props especially compared to that farce of a debate NBC had last week.
Michele Bachmann - um.. she is starting to reek of desperation and it shows, I was turned off by how hard she went after Perry, although she did manage to stand out more in this debate than the last. On a side note, whoever does her hair and makeup needs to be fired. Her eyeshadow in particular makes her look crazy and her hair style just isn't very flattering on her. She is actually a very pretty lady, but you can barely see it.
Herman Cain - Sharp as always (and looks great in a suit), he would make a great president, but I fear he has no chance. I would love for him to be offered a job in the next administration.
Newt Gingrich - freaking brilliant as always, although he wobbled out onto the stage like humty dumpty. He like Cain has no chance of winning but deserves to be offered a job in the next administration.
Jon Huntsman - I hate that smug dorky sob. He is in the wrong party and I am sick and tired of having him on stage deriding the other candidates.
Ron Paul - OMFG just when you thought Paul couldn't get any nuttier! he quotes OBL! I would of loved to have seen a huge hook appear and drag him off the stage or maybe some doctors arrive and put him into a straight jacket before they haul him off the stage.
Rick Perry - Did good, he improved on his last performance and managed to clarify some of his more controversial comments (with the help of some of the others) He entered the debate as the leader and will leave it as the leader, (which is all he had to do). On a side note his back problems cause him to look a little awkward at times as he stands at the podium and when he walks out. He looks great in a suit like Cain, and they managed to fix his makeup since the first debate so his facial wrinkles don't make him look like an elephants scrotum.
Mitt Romney - his greasy slicked back hair and the way he answers questions just oozes dishonesty to me. I don't trust him, he's a little to slick, like a used car salesman that's trying to sell you undercoating.
Rick Santorum - needs to GIVE IT UP. Seriously, I am starting to hate this dude. Sanctimonious jerk.
I had to miss the debate. Do you know if there is someplace online I can go to see the whole thing in replay?
Thanks.
What Sarah and Bachmann did tonight on Greta's show and Greta as well, was unforgivable and will hurt them big time in the future. Palin showed she has been a phony in her support for Perry. How sad that she could not be more honest, she should never have endorsed Perry if she felt this way.
Oh heck! I didn’t know there was a debate last night. I was out for the evening. Is there a link to a replay today
Anyone else notice the facial expressions, demeanor, and behavior of Perry?
It scary similar to Bush and they were just discussing this on KFI Los Angeles and several others mentioned this last night, right here.
