The Candidates:
Michele Bachmann
Bachmann is serving her 3rd full term in the U.S. House. Founder of the House Tea Party Caucus, she earned a Master of Laws degree, worked as a tax attorney, and was a foster mother for 23 teenagers. She is a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
Herman Cain
Cain is the former chief executive of Godfather's Pizza and former chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. He lost the Georgia Republican primary for a U.S. Senate seat in 2004. He was recently the host of Atlanta-based radio show.
Newt Gingrich
Gingrich served as Speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 1995 to 1999. He represented Georgia's 6th congressional district as a Republican member from 1979 to 1999. He has a PhD in modern European history.
Jon Huntsman
Huntsman was Utah Governor, former ambassador to China under Barack Obama.
Ron Paul
Paul is serving his 11th full term in the U.S. House. Hes an ob-gyn and was Libertarian nominee for president in 1988. He unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for president in 2008
Rick Perry
Perry is the three term governor of Texas, from 2000 to current. He is a retired Air Force captain for former farmer. He has a degree in animal science.
Mitt Romney
Romney was governor of Massachusetts (2003 to 2007) and former CEO of Bain Capital, a private equity investment firm. He unsuccessfully sought the Republican 2008 nomination for president. He has an MBA (Harvard) and JD (Harvard Law).
Rick Santorum
Santorum served two terms in the U.S. House and two terms in the U.S. Senate. He became the Senate's third-ranking Republican in 2001. He was defeated for reelection in 2006.
Bachmann rubbed me wrong on the HPV part of the debate. Perry and Cain are my picks after tonight (subject to change, of course).
I am not "counting" on the polls, just acknowledging what they show at the moment. It is always better to be in front than in back (although I realize that Palin supporters wouldn't know what theat feels like).
Yeah. Considering our options, I'll go for Perry right now, too. No one is perfect.
I'll take anyone but Oboma, though, if he doesn't make it to the end.
Palin’s body language said she is NOT running.
Thank you...saved me the trouble of saying it...
Yuuuuuppp! I guess her principles are out the window then.
Paul Begala on CNN is now running with what she charged Perry with taking money from Merck - she gave the dems their new talking points.
No idea about the disease, what opt out means.
Very disturbing to see among conservatives.
Gold. Pure gold! Thanks for the recap! Hoping for the video tomorrow.
Gov. Palin freely critiqued the candidates. I was greatly disappointed in her answer to Greta’s question about her running.
She wasn’t shrill. She was tough. All you guys go to the shrill word when you don’t like the message. And Perry fumbled around and seemed confused (and frankly, stunned) by her denunciation of his executive order.
And not every Southern male is Ashley Wilkes. I’ve learned that lesson well enough here on FR.
Yes, Sarah endorsing Perry is not going to happen. Did you just hear Newt giving kudos to Sarah. Big time WOW. Sarah is having a big impact on the election.

Well said.
They should just get off this.
More important issues out there- like we need somebody who can kick Omuslim’s sorry a@@ out of the WH.
.
In what regard?
Newt just endorsed Palin.
Oh really because my college student couldn’t get in until they had proof of the meningitis vaccine. So unless your are in a cave somewhere vaccines are mandatory.
Although not mandated in Alaska, Gardisal appears on their 2011 Recommended Immunization Schedule as to be given to girls and boys at ages 11-12. Here’s a headline from the State of Alaska Epidemiology Bulletin from Nov 3, 2008:
Alaska to Initiate Federal Vaccines for Children Program
for Human Papillomavirus and Meningococcal Vaccines
Mandated. No. Promoted by the Government of Alaska. Yep.
No crap. If he had strapped little innocent 12 year old girls to gurneys and injected them, then we have something to talk about.
This is a non issue.
Social issues aren’t going to win this election, right or wrong. Irrespective of his stance, hammering Perry on this is a loser, and the longer you go on about it the more you will lose. The economy takes all precedence right now.
The tuition thing might get more mileage, I don’t know. A candidate would have to play it right though or eventually people will tire of that too.
Bottom line in politics, get the negatives out early. If Perry can stand the heat he’s golden. If not then Romney still lives, and I’m pissed at Bachmann and Santorum for enabling that.
They both made a serious tactical error tonite. Wrong issue to go for the throat on and they may have knocked themselves out. Otherwise they were decent.
Newt and Cain the master statesmen as always.
Ron Paul - superkook.
Huntsman - Eddie Hascal.
Did Perry funnel 500 million to solyndra?
And the content was completely lame.
