Barack Obama has gone to Congress asking for more money to spend. The President, in a rambling and tedious exercise mixing blame with demands, made quite a few dubious statements in laying out the case for Congress to vote for the plan which as yet does not exist. Much like Obamacare, Congress must ultimately vote for the bill to know what is in it.
At one point Mr. Obama made a major gaffe; he identified Abraham Lincoln as the founder of the Republican Party.
Lincoln did not join the Republicans until 1856, over two years after the party was founded. The first Republican convention was held in Ripon, Wisconsin in 1854.

When Jay Carney went on O’Reilly after the speech, he said Obama was asking the people in Congress to put party ahead of country. Obviously Carney meant to say the opposite, but O’Reilly didn’t notice his mistake.
Brian Birdnow adds:
Brian is wrong about that. Land Grant colleges started in 1862 when Lincoln signed the Morrill bill.

This is the same media that excoriated Bachmann for mixing up Elvis’s b-day and date of death.

Working for PBS should be considered a badge of shame.
Expect anything less from progressive libtard-ridden PBS? =.=
If I were to ask "who is the politician you would trust your future: your savings, your investments and your family to?
What would your answer be?

Just a little clarification. The GOP kind of flared up around the midwest but the first “official” meeting took place in Ripon.
The February 1854 meeting (in Ripon) was the first political meeting of the group that would become the Republican Party. The first meeting by a group that called itself “Republican” took place later in 1854 in Jackson, Michigan. Both cities, along with Exeter, New Hampshire and Crawfordsville, Iowa, bill themselves as the “Birthplace of the Republican Party,” however, Jackson is most often associated with this idea, as the event taking place was the first official Republican Party meeting.
I’m a little young to remember Lincoln...
Not too surprising. O'Reilly is so in love with hearing his own voice that he doesn't have time to listen to his guests.
Obama’s gaffes are forgivable.
It is all the other stuff he says that is unforgivable.
If they could ‘seal’ his speeches - as easily as everything else in his past - they would .
The slavery issue was much of a foundational issue for the nascent Republican Party. To give BHO a bit of a break (for the first and likely only time), possibly that translated into Lincoln being a founder.
