Last weekend the Thinker ran an article by Amil Imani and a blog by Andrew Bostom, both of which gave a stamp of approval to Rick Perry's public-school Islamic school curriculum. The only problem was that both Imani and Bostom were presenting a false argument. Neither Imani nor Bostom was actually evaluating the curriculum at all; rather, they were praising one individual teacher's lesson plan, not the actual curriculum................
The actual curriculum has been scrubbed entirely from the web after I first exposed it a couple of weeks back; not only has it been taken down, but the Google cache has been scrubbed as well. Clearly the Perry camp are embarrassed by the curriculum, or they wouldn't have resorted to this drastic measure to cover it up. They know what the real curriculum is, and they reveal that knowledge by this action.

I’m confused. Is it not Perry who appointed multiple of the extremely conservative members of the Texas’s state textbook committee? How, in anyone’s opinion, does Perry plan to get this curriculum material past the textbook committee whose members HE appointed?
I’m glad you’ll be back. As someone who, apparently unlike Geller, understands something about the Texas curriculum process I would offer the following.
In Texas, textbooks approved to be used in the Texas government schools are NOT approved by the Governor. They are authorized by the ELECTED State Board of Education with input from the Texas Education Agency. Perry neither appoints nor controls the SBOE.
Unlike Geller, I know people on the SBOE. Many are very conservative, but the composition of the 15 member board has tended to be majority liberal because of some RINO Rs. Yes, there is some Mohammedan-friendly curriculum that some Texas schools use.
Someone who isn’t a complete ignoramus, however, would know that that is the case in every state. In fact, it is worse in most states. Moreover, because Texas is such a large textbook market, it has frustrated liberals across the country by the SBOE’s insistence that much of the liberal tripe in textbooks be removed before they can be sold to Texas schools. Geller ought to know that.
The Geller article is tripe. Perry can be criticized legitimately for Gardasil, the TTC, and some other things, but for some reason he is attracting ridiculous smears such as this piece.

You know Pam’s really jumped the shark when she’s arguing this subject with Amil Imani.
This is what I mean by Obama-esque.
If it was good, Perry gets full credit. If its bad, its someone elses’s fault and he’s not responsible for his own appointees.
Perry does NOT appoint members of the SBOE.

At this point I’m not so sure the whole insider GOP isn’t in league with the same people.
Moderate bush to socialist Clinton, to even more moderate Bush to Marxist Obama to even more moderate Perry. At the rate we’re going, in 2020 we could nominate Chelsea Clinton as the GOP’s true conservative.
The GOP should just use a cowering dog as their mascot.
Sessions 1 to 9 in Pam Geller's article don't look or sound good.
The Ismailis are the 2nd largest non-Sunni sect of Islam after Shi'ites. Many (not just liberals, but some conservatives in the US too) view the Isamili sect of Islam as "moderate Islam".
Also, Imani's reply quoted in Geller's article: "To fight the enemy effectively you need to know everything you can about him. Universities, admittedly tend to be too liberal. Yet, as a whole they do their job of providing information. And universities such as Harvard and university of Texas are top universities. Their participation in providing balanced information about many aspects of Islam is bound to help in dealing with it." -- makes me wonder.
Generally speaking, Imani's quoted reply sounds logical - the devil, however, is in the detail & would depend on the specifics that are proposed to be taught.

Being a Texas resident, there was no “islamic studies” for Texas schools, this was “scrubbed” because it was FALSE. Only a fictious smear planted by some paulnut.
The bigger question NOW is what motivates you to bring it up again, knowing its false? You wouldn’t be another of those that hide under Palin’s skirt to keep us from seeing that ronpaul bumper sticker, now would you?
The fact is that I bring this up to get a complete airing of the pros,cons, and veracity of the issues presented by Pamela Geller and not to assert that they are in fact the truth being asserted therein.
As for myself, I try to make it a practice to avoid making unfounded accusations through ad hominem personal attacks with such words as "Someone who isn’t a complete ignoramus" or, "Geller article is tripe" or, "fictious smear planted by some paulnut" because those types of attacks amount to exactly that which Pamela Geller is being accused and aren't really conducive to getting to the truth of the matter. It detracts from getting to the real facts and documented evidence thereby confusing the issue for some people who may be more prone to accepting that type of emotionalist attacks as truth.
I do thank those of you that have posted some genuine facts that can be researched. Also, my belief is that for the most part Pamela Geller has contributed a great deal of relevant evidence about Islam and how Islamists operate.
So, they are praising the actual lesson plan that is being implemented, and ignoring an outline that was found on the web once but no longer exists, but which we have screen captures for and are therefore CERTAIN reflects what is actually being taught, not that lesson plan the teacher is using.
OK.
But my points are founded in fact, and I gave you the facts. A simple internet search would have allowed Geller to ascertain the same facts - she doesn’t need to live in Texas or know members of the SBOE, as I do. She is engaged in something that is difficult to explain as anything but a deliberate smear. The article is tripe - vicious tripe. There is no moral equivalence between someone who deliberately or grossly irresponsibly engages in a smear and those who call it what it is.
In a true representative democracy, any thing & every thing deserves verification & a very close scrutiny, beforehand. That’s my view. — Beats electing someone then spending some 2 yrs plus afterwards, moaning & groaning, or trying to prove he wasn’t born in the USA, as an example.
