I disagree with you. All laws have unintended consequences. There are ways to deal with problems other than more laws. ALL laws encumber us.

I disagree with you. All laws have unintended consequences. There are ways to deal with problems other than more laws. ALL laws encumber us. I'm inclined to agree with PARTS of what you wrote above. For example, I might make an exception for laws that encumber entities that are not civilians -- e.g., laws that limit how a policeman can order you to stand ready for a house search, might be a net-freedom-enhancer, would you not agree with that?
