But Samuelson's neighbor, Fernando Perez, said he told the cops several times that Ozzy was roaming in the back.
When the security alarm system at the home went off, Samuelson called Perez to check it out while she made the 20-minute drive to her house, he said. Perez said he knew not to go into the backyard because of the dog and when officers arrived, he warned them.
"'Be careful. Its a big dog,' I told them. They told me to go back to my house," said Perez, who repeated the warning several more times. "Before I get to my driveway, I hear the two shots. They walked into the backyard with the guns in their hand. Then they ran from the backyard like they were scared or something."
Samuelson said she got Ozzy to protect the house and deter thieves. Police have not said what triggered the alarm.
"He was our protector," Samuelson said. "Hes a huge part of our family."

Nice job. :)
She needs to sue them.
“...A dog, who is “surpised”, is likely to not react to the first person, but he will react to the second (cop) and possibly attack...”

It is quite obvious that you have spent very little time
around a fenced guard dog and that you know not of what you speak.

Liberals want to rein in citizens.
Conservatives want to restrain government.
That’s largely what the constitution was all about.

BF’s dogged opinions on impunity are offset by his good sense of humor.
Shapely hound.
Kudos to him for extinguishing that scourge.
I hate it when that happens.
That lightening graphic is a thing of beauty.
LOL!
I’ve never quite heard it put *that* way before.
[you should see him a bustier....he’s positively Rubenesque]
;]
Yeah but then the poor dog had to go eat a rotted skunk to get the bad taste out of his mouth.
Boom, boom....out went the lights!
No worries....Odin *loves* the ladies....:)
[but he’s not much on trannies and none of them have *ever* fooled him]....LOL
this may sound strange coming from me, but i recently came to feel that we are living in a neo or pre police state. as if America has become a kind of prison or the gang hood of our collective police depts & the tsa, & we the people, are slowly being subjugated by them.
yet as an aside, as our liberty is used more for vice than virtue, only a dictator ship may be able to handle to the resulting chaos.
apart from that, it’s as if to themselves, they & their procedures are their own idols & in their view we don’t matter one whit, only the exercise of their power & the defense of their turf does. via their actions many dept.s & individuals seem to have no sense of fairness, justice or mercy.
yet, they may simply be a sample of our society at large, with only a minority doing what is right, like Lot in sodom.
about the article, what infuriates me most about these incidents is that the officers, police dept.s, sheriff dept.s, city govt et al etc. thru legality regard themselves non obligated to make restitution. in the big picture this is true for either pets or people. nowadays dialing 911 & dying may very well result from either police or non police action.
for any local leo dept which sanctions killing pets as bau procedure [business as usual] it should be required by law that an officer personally [not the dept] make restitution of at least $2500 per pet he/she kills.
just like politicians, the police work for us, by the people, for the people, not for their own selfish, arrogant, conceited ambition.
Darks has the second one...
Uh huh.
I do know that two things.
1. Dogs don’t have instant transmission.
2. A human who is running on adrenaline, who is running without hesitation, who is not going to drop and pause if he hears a growling dog, is going to be gone over the average city yard before the Nazi guard dog can stop him.
