Friends-

I hope you will join me next week in Richmond for lunch as we welcome Texas Governor Rick Perry to Virginia. You can reserve a ticket to this lunch by clicking here or going to www.RPV.org/LunchwithPerry.

I have gotten to know Governor Perry over the past few years and I have seen the terrific job he has done in Texas to attract new jobs and make the tough decisions to balance the budget. Please join me next Wednesday (September 14th) for lunch to support RPV and hear directly from Governor Perry about his vision for our nation.

Please reserve your ticket by clicking here our going to www.RPV.org/LunchwithPerry

I look forward to seeing you in Richmond next week!

Sincerely,

Bob

Has Bob McDonnell endorsed Rick, or is this the standard polite invitation to any newly declared candidate? Virginia is, I think, a must win for Republicans. (along with: Florida, Ohio, Indiana, North Carolina).

Bob has not yet endorsed Rick...

Said it before, I’ll say it again — I really like Bob McDonnell. He has done a great job in Virginia. If, god forbid, Obama wins in 12, I hope McDonnell runs in 16.

Agreed. Fail to win every one of those states, and we're talking four more years.

I agree... There’s one fellow Virginian in FR who despises McDonnell, but he’s done at outstanding job as Governor.

IN and FL are sure things. Ohio should be good, but I think it will once again be THE battleground in 2012. I can’t get a pulse on NC, Obama’s polling has held up much stronger there than VA and the other 2008 Obama flipped states. I think electorally we can win without NC, but I have a hard time seeing it continue to trend blue if we have a GOP year.

Agreed. NC has had a major influx of hispanics over the years ... all that came to fruition in ‘08.

No. It’s an RPV event, and Bob is the titular head of the RPV as our governor.

He clearly likes Rick Perry, but I assume when he wants to endorse a candidate, he will make it clear.

BTW, in 2008, McDonnell endorsed Fred Thompson. So he has a good track record.

But I would be surprised if he offered an endorsement at this meeting. I thought about attending this event, but it’s a 2-hour drive each way for me in the middle of a work day, and in the end I decided it just wasn’t worth it.

I was invited to attend just the speeches as a blogger/newsperson, which is nice (our republican organization is really nice with bloggers, and our Lt. Governor has an annual bloggers convention day where he entertains us and has dinner with us afterward).

But if I went, I’d probably pay the $55 to attend the lunch.
