Solyndra investigation expands with raid of executives' homes and files

CEO and founder of politically connected company questioned on day of raid. Now some Democrats wonder if they'd been misled

Federal agents have expanded their examination of the now-bankrupt California solar power company Solyndra, searching the homes of the company's chief executive, a founder, and a former executive, examining computer files and documents, the Center for Public Integrity's iWatch News and ABC News have learned.

Agents visited the homes of CEO Brian Harrison and company founder Chris Gronet. Agents also visited the home of a third executive involved in the company from the start, according to a source who agreed to speak only on condition of anonymity because of the legal sensitivity of the situation.

Gronet, reached at his home Friday morning, did not dispute that his home was searched by federal agents a day earlier.

“I’m sorry,” Gronet said in an interview. “You probably understand full well that I cannot comment.”

Solyndra spokesman David Miller confirmed agents visited Harrison’s home on Thursday, when the FBI and Energy Department Inspector General arrived at the company's headquarters in Fremont, Calif., seizing boxes of records.

“Yeah, they did go to his house and speak to him briefly,” Miller said. “I don’t know what they may have taken. I believe they took a look at his computer.”

The third executive, identified by the source, could not be reached for comment.

Dems now saying "they were misled". Thats a new development. Someone is going to take a fall.

Republican members of the House have said that failing proves the deal was doomed from the start. Now, even Democratic leaders are questioning whether Solyndra misled the government.

“Solyndra investigation expands with raid of executives’ homes and files”

You can bet those guys got a heads up and are not going to get caught with anything incriminating.

Half a billion dollars - that’s what one small company got.

You can bet that hundreds of millions went into the executives’ pockets and into hidden contributions to the democrat coffers.

None of this will be allowed to come out. Holder and Chu will suppress any embarassing information.

Poor Tom Delay was crucified for peanuts. These guys corruptingly used millions of taxpayer dollars for their personal greed and democrat politics.

We are becomimg a Third World corrupt country. Soon Venezuela will look like a model of integrity compared to us.

What does it say about their cometence if they were “misled”, how could they be misled when they were in most of the meetings. It stinks to high hell.

The FBI is not there to investigate.

They’re scrubbing.

Come on ABC. Stick with it — it could be bigger than Watergate. Let’s get back to some real investigative journalism. Corruption is corruptionn and needs to be weeded out. You can’t keep giving them a pass because the president is black. Do your job.

The new spin is “Solyndra misled the Govt”, ok so how do you mislead someone into $550B, its either incompetence, criminality or both.

Companies that declare BK don’t get raided by the Feds.

And WH cronies wouldn’t be raided if they were ‘protected’.

Here’s a wild guess.
Solyndra sought funds, built the Taj Mahal of factories for a niche company with no profit history.
No board would approve that for their own company, meaning 1/2 billion dollar factory. It would doom the company to strike gold immediately, or collapse.
OR-The board was under the belief that the funds would keep coming, as in too important to fail federal bailout.

So, company is BK, and somebody is a loose cannon, meaning they’ll spill sordid details of WH promises.
Feds get to them first, make them the criminals in the court of public opinion, and whatever they say after that are the mutterings of criminals.

One good way to be competitive in the solar business would be to buy the assets of a bankrupt company for a dime on the dollar.

That requires thinking a few moves ahead.

“I’m sorry,” Gronet said in an interview. “You probably understand full well that I cannot comment.”

Get ready for a lot of that. The FBI doesn’t need to “scrub” anything. Just give the dims an “ongoing investigation” to hide behind until the election.
