Republicans Yuck It Up When Obama Says He’s Not For Class Warfare
TPMDC ^ | 9/8/2011 | Ryan J. Reilly

Posted on 09/09/2011 4:19:05 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

The Republican side of the House floor burst into laughter during President Barack Obama's big jobs speech on Thursday when he said his plan "isn't class warfare."

They also didn't take to kindly when President Obama name-dropped billionaire Warren Buffet, who he said "pays a lower tax rate than even his secretary -- an outrage he has asked us to fix."

"I mean, well yeah Warren Buffett, gimme' a break!" Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) later exclaimed. "I mean we find out his business is four billion in the rears [sic] on taxes, and he goes public and says 'hey I'm all for more taxes, I don't pay enough taxes.' Pay what you owe, how about that! Four billion dollars -- think about what that could do, the jobs that could provide, and the money could be applied towards the deficit."

Same here. I skipped “O” as usual, but I rely on FR to get the details.

There’s a little video at the bottom of this article which pretty well sums it up:

No one is forcing Buffet to list his income as captital income.. He could list is ordinary income if he wants and pay the higher rate.

I accidentally stopped on the speech just when he mentioned Buffett,
and between insulting my intelligence for not knowing that Buffett
could just voluntarily pay more without shafting the rest of the
taxpayers, and BHO looked angrily crazed, I immediately
corrected my mistake and decided to read whatever he ended up
spewing.

It’s about time the repubs start laughing at this clown.
The Chinese laughed at geithner a while back when he went on spewing obama’s talking points about his econonic plans.

baraq deserves the ridicule. It’s the only thing he has actually earned.

Too bad there’s no video clip. I sure didn’t watch the speech, and don’t intend to, but I’d watch that clip.

This is not class warfare

I expected louder laughing, but it’s still pretty funny. Man, the guy’s tone is so wrong. Just that constant hectoring. Lecturing. Awful. Never liked the guy. Can’t understand anyone thinking he has any talent, as a speaker, or as anything else.

four billion in the rears

I know it's not the right phrase, but I think it's more appropriate.

>> This fool, Gomer, is as dumb as the rest. Buffet’s back taxes &etc

Cut him some slack. His comment drips with sarcasm. Gohmert is just yanking Barky’s chain.

—Both parties supported the bailout. They’re both for class warfare.—

Yep. It’s why the TEA party needs to do to the Republican party what the Republican party did to the Whigs. The Dems and Pubs are redundant. One needs to go. And the new party is coming out of the one that at least “Claims” to be conservative.

I’m thinking of that scene in the first “Alien” movie. And the host, of course, dies.

I watched live and, to me, the laughter was louder and clearer than on this clip.

The point remains is that Obama tried to pull a fast one and the GOP laughed in his face for it...a saavy political move.

I think it’s great. He’s so pompous and condescending. It’s the best way to handle it. It’s out in the open now. He’s lost whatever respect he ever had.

Heheh...given that point, I hesitated to insert the [sic] into the text.

Yes, he did look crazed last night. The Scolding look of contempt, unlike ANY other President, and I have watched these speeeches for almost fifty years.

The trick to an Obama speech is NEVER to look and listen at the SAME time.

You do one or the other, but never both. There is something about his speaking style that attempts to induce mass hypnosis. That along, with the head bobbing side to side constantly, induces a subconcious state to make the hearer more receptive to the words spoken.

How many times did he use the phrase "Pass the Bill!" last night--20X? Yet, there IS NO BILL! Why repeat a line about something that does not exist?

Simple--to make the listener think there is a bill, and the repitition is there and enforced to make the listener more inclined to do it.

The hubris of this naked emperor to demand another half trillion dollars to do what a previous trillion has failed to do, at a time, when we are going over a financial cliff,is either madness, or it is part of a carefully calculated plan to funnel more money into the Democrat Party coffers for 2012 under the guise of "jobs, jobs, jobs".

The GOP can stop laughing. They better start gritting their teeth and getting on with the business of saving this country.

Is laughing the same as saying “YOu Lie?”

If Buffett’s corporations owe 4 Billion dollars why is Buffett not in prison ?

Pay up you sorry mother.

4 billion dollars will just about pay for all the ball point pens and paper clips stolen in one years time by affirmative action employeees .Might even cover a few lap tops that are missing in action.

I enjoyed the response to Obama when he said that some think the solution is less government, lower taxes and regulations. The reaction was overwhelming and must have taken him back.

Pass it now. Jobs jobs jobs. Pass it now. Jobs pass it now. Teachers, union construction Jobs pass it now.

That's exactly why I didn't watch it. But I wish I'd heard the Republicans laughing at his class warfare remark.

Not a doubt in my mind that he has studied and practiced to great effect the techniques of NLP and mass hypnosis. His general demeanor and the cadence of his head turns and various regularly repeated hypnotic suggestions supply plenty of evidence that such was in heavy use last night.
