Rick Perry: "The Promises and Platitudes' Aren't Going To Cut It"
ABC News ^ | 09/08/2011 | Michael Falcone

Mr. President, we cannot spend our way to prosperity, it does not work.”

Perry said he has a “record of change” whereas Obama only offers “the rhetoric of change.” Though he spent most of his brief remarks assailing the president, Perry vowed to continue to contrast himself with his GOP rivals too.

Perry, who mixed it up at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library Wednesday night with the other Republican presidential hopefuls, particularly Mitt Romney, acknowledged that “we’ve got our differences.”

“We’ll talk about them,” Perry said, adding “hopefully in a very respectful way.”

“I stood on the stage last night with seven other very, very fine and great Americans and every one of them would better than what we have in the White House today,” Perry told the crowd, “any one of them.”

Few in the crowd seemed to be concerned about Perry’s use of the term “Ponzi scheme” to describe Social Security despite the criticism he has been drawing even from other Republicans. (Perry did not use that phrase on Thursday.) In fact, some of his supporters appeared to be embracing “Ponzi scheme” as a rallying cry. Orange County Supervisor Shawn Nelson, a Perry backer, who spoke ahead of the governor, praised Perry’s use of “provocative language.”

And Micki Blair, a teacher from nearby Corona, Calif. who said she was leaning toward Perry in the primary, agreed.

“I don’t think his rhetoric is too strong,” she said. “I think that people are mature, have a brain. They can figure out that if you don’t put enough in, you can’t pass it all out. It just doesn’t work that way.”

Perry will remain in California through the end of the week. He has a full schedule of fundraising events in Southern and Central California and the Bay Area.

Well Rick Perry as far as being a conservative is as they say in Texas “All hat and no cattle.” He if given the opportunity to run against Obama will trounce him but let’s not pretend he is a rock solid conservative.

Perry is far more Conservative than you realize. In time you will throw away the blinders and realize how great a politician he truly is.

America is destined to fall in love with his style and soothing personality. Get ready for a landslide of support from all sides of the political spectrum. Finally, we have a candidate who can speak his mind and not back down. That in itself, is exactly what we have been waiting so long for.

The vetting process is on we are looking for the cattle now. My point was he can win without the cattle, the conservative cred, but let’s not pretend that he has the cattle already. We shall see though.

How is Perry being a pro-amnesty, open borders, globalist politician the definition of a “great politician”? There are many conservatives and many Libertarians who don’t like Perry, for a variety of legitimate reasons, and Perry needs to fully explain himself to all of his critics. I’ll vote for him in the general election, if he’s the final choice for ‘12 GOP POTUS, but, as a pro-Palin person, I’m, still, hoping that Sarah Palin will, officially, run for ‘12 POTUS, too. Honestly, I find all of the ‘12 GOP Presidential candidates (and Sarah Palin, too) to be way too weak on illegal immigration issues, and this concerns me and others greatly! More amnesty will, eventually, kill off U.S. conservatism, possibly temporary, or possibly forever!

Perry said repeatedly, he is not for amnesty. Why do you keep spreading that falsehood again and again? That and the “Open Borders” lie. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Did Perry Blow It on Social Security? (Marco Rubio and Ron Johnson certainly didn't)....."Either Americans are going to solve this problem by facing up to it, or they aren’t. But Republicans cannot hope to sneak the issue past the voters during election season with dishonest palaver and then impose a solution — or worse, join the Democrats in denial. On this issue, Rick Perry was treating voters as adults."

As I have implored us all to do in this bebate, recognize all the traits of each candidate. Now is not the time for choosing but is the time to size up the choice process. Perry gained chits with his steadfast and unwavering description of SS. He has gained other chits in the process as well. But he, like any other human, has the ability to loose them just as quickly.

When the primaries are set, that is the time for choosing. Just be brave enough to accept the ups and downs for each as they come. We cannot afford another McCain moment in our history or the history will take a very bad turn and all we will be reduced to is looking for the Goof Off when the stickers come off, again.

The Perry contradictions are starkly evident. Perry wants it both ways. As a presidential candidate Perry knows he has to appear tough on illegals. But Governor Perry is another story.

* Governor Perry established sanctuary cities for illegals.

* Governor Perry refigured sub-prime mortgage laws that helped illegals stiff taxpayers.

* Gov Perry gave illegals in-state college tuition. Gov Perry went to Mexico and criticized US amnesty policy (while standing on foreign soil).

* Gov Perry criticized Arizona's immigration enforcement law and opposes border fences.

* Governor Perry has done nothing about savage Zetas ensconced in Big D Dallas, operating drug cartels seemingly with his unspoken blessing.

* Gov Perry has apparently already endorsed legalization under the guise of “guest worker” programs (same trick tried by George W. Bush).

For an unabashedly proud law-and-order man bragging about relentless Texas executions, Perry seemed rather blasé about the real threats to Americans by law-breaking illegals who fill our jails.

If you get trashed for an anti-Perry post, remember, there's a saying in Texas: "Good Yankees go home. Damn Yankees stay in Texas."

He’s definitely not the ideal. I think he’s better than the rest of the candidates, but I still wish there was better. Perry is not afraid to rip into 0bama.

Perry's campaign theme: "There's One Born Every Minute." Reminds me of the character in "Paper Moon"---set during the Great Depression. The conman sells Bibles to widowed women pretending the deceased ordered the Bible....inveigling the distraught widows to overpay b/c the Holy Book's inscribed with their names.

===========================================

It's astounding that Perry actually inveigled Texans into believing Countrywide was a viable operation--a notorious company of crooks at the heart of the trillion dollar bailouts taxpayers are saddled with. The Texas Enterprise Fund awarded $$millions in grants to corporate donors (who then kickbacked to Perry's campaigns).

This guy Perry is nothing more than a con man.

REFERENCE--DOWN THE DISASTROUS ROAD TO TRILLION DOLLAR BAILOUTS--PEOPLE AT THE HEART OF THE US FINANCIAL MELTDOWN

ANGELO MOZILO Then-chairman and CEO of Countrywide Financial. The biggest American sub-prime mortgage lender, was a step away from bankruptcy with investigations by various attorney generals b/c Countrywide sold risky loans to thousands who could not afford them. Mozilo also ran a "VIP programme" that provided loans on favorable terms to influential pols including (1) Chris Dodd, then-chairman of the US Senate banking committee, (2) the heads of the mortgage lenders Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac (that taxpayers were forced to bailout) , and, (3) former assistant Secy of State Richard Holbrooke (in Obama's admin).

Then-SEN CHRIS DODD (D-Conn----now a Hollywood bigwig) faced an ethics inquiry over allegations that he received preferential treatment on two mortgages in 2003 from Countrywide Financial. And then came the dramatic financial meltdown, placing Dodd at the center of TARP---a controversial $700 billion financial rescue plan.

The collapse of the national housing market, the subprime-mortgage-market meltdown and the convulsions on Wall Street cost taxpayers trillions.

Gov. Rick Perry's Remarks Regarding Countrywide Financing / Dec 14, 2004 "...Today we are not only building upon the Texas Enterprise Fund’s tremendous record of creating jobs, we are unveiling its crowning jewel. I am proud to announce that the state of Texas is investing $20 million from the Texas Enterprise Fund to help Countrywide Financial bring 7,500 additional jobs to Texas over the next 6 years. This is the largest job creation announcement in the United States since 2000 according to Site Selection Magazine, and proof that the Enterprise Fund is a key reason Texas is leading the nation to economic recovery. You can consider the Countrywide expansion to be “Exhibit A” as to why we need to continue to invest state dollars in the Texas Enterprise Fund..."

“Perry is not afraid to rip into Obama.”

A little or THIS in the last national election and we might be in better shape now.

Ripping into "O" is a baby step, but I am sure “O” is a paper tiger. Why Conservatives treat him like some kind of sacred cow is beyond me.

“O” has had daily (almost hourly) opportunities to demonstrate leadership and has failed (refused) consistently. SOMEONE ought to slam him!!
