Rick Perry: "The Promises and Platitudes' Aren't Going To Cut It"
ABC News ^ | 09/08/2011 | Michael Falcone

Mr. President, we cannot spend our way to prosperity, it does not work.”

Perry said he has a “record of change” whereas Obama only offers “the rhetoric of change.” Though he spent most of his brief remarks assailing the president, Perry vowed to continue to contrast himself with his GOP rivals too.

Perry, who mixed it up at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library Wednesday night with the other Republican presidential hopefuls, particularly Mitt Romney, acknowledged that “we’ve got our differences.”

“We’ll talk about them,” Perry said, adding “hopefully in a very respectful way.”

“I stood on the stage last night with seven other very, very fine and great Americans and every one of them would better than what we have in the White House today,” Perry told the crowd, “any one of them.”

Few in the crowd seemed to be concerned about Perry’s use of the term “Ponzi scheme” to describe Social Security despite the criticism he has been drawing even from other Republicans. (Perry did not use that phrase on Thursday.) In fact, some of his supporters appeared to be embracing “Ponzi scheme” as a rallying cry. Orange County Supervisor Shawn Nelson, a Perry backer, who spoke ahead of the governor, praised Perry’s use of “provocative language.”

And Micki Blair, a teacher from nearby Corona, Calif. who said she was leaning toward Perry in the primary, agreed.

“I don’t think his rhetoric is too strong,” she said. “I think that people are mature, have a brain. They can figure out that if you don’t put enough in, you can’t pass it all out. It just doesn’t work that way.”

Perry will remain in California through the end of the week. He has a full schedule of fundraising events in Southern and Central California and the Bay Area.

If I can remember what I was saying; Obama is history he has no chance. The GOP is selecting a President not a candidate. Perry and Romney are therefore electable but not nearly as much fun as watching Sarah Palin take Obama down. She deserves the opportunity after all the vetting that has gone on. I hope she runs just for the interest factor. One cannot say Sarah is boring right?

” don’t know about you, I’ve never spoken with you before, but I know there are some here in FR who are obviously extremely frustrated (frustrated to the point of near-insanity, Tempest being a case in point) that Perry has done well (at least initially) and they are obviously taking out their frustrations strongly, rudely and unfairly on ANYONE who doesn’t agree with them 1,000,000%.

It’s a sad sight to see.”

WELL, SAM, I HAVE SOME 56,000 POSTS, AND IF YOU CAN FIND EVEN O N E THAT SHOWS ME THAT I AM NOT A DOCTRINNAIRE CONSERVATIVE, I WILL LEAVE HERE, POST HASTE. HAPPY HUNTING : )

Rick Perry is a CREEP,and has been relentlessly exposed a being a CREEP. I will not vote for Obama-Lite. You follow your conscience!

Re:"Hang in there——I plan to post a pic of this “upright bird” ——— the pteradactyl. LOL."

I should have warned you NOT to put crazy ideas in my head. I did a little anthropological research and found this pest, I think these aggressive birds may have invaded this country VERY recently much like the Stink-bugs did the East coast.

Given these parameters, it's clear Ricardo was not referring to the 'path' already in place.

That's what it sounds like. Assuming Perry was paying attention to the question, this represents a flip-flop from his 2006 position ("That’s why I support a guest worker program that takes undocumented workers off the black market and legitimizes their economic contributions without providing them citizenship status.").

In any case, his answer did nothing to calm my worries about what he would do as POTUS.

RE :"This Perry S U P E R R I N O P O S has got to GO!"

My take : Perry is currently seen as a compromise someplace between Bachmann(very conservative) and Romney(electable and slick) by the 'polled' Republicans, which is why you are seeing him so high in the polls right now.

Immigration:

NEWSFLASH! None of them are going to do much.

My concern is that Perry would do something, and that is push amnesty like GWB did.

RE :"In any case, his answer did nothing to calm my worries about what he would do as POTUS."

He did a good job sticking to his guns on on Social Security. Most Republicans would just run away from the issue and repeat the big lie. However given his past record support of Dream Act which only makes sense with amnesty, he needs to be VERY CLEAR TO EVERYONE about amnesty and not just repeat the RINO position about 'the border first'.

Clearly his most vocal supporters here know his real intentions, example:
As usual, Texas led the way (2001). We found it was better to educate illegal immigrant children (brought in by their parents) who, if they’d been in the Texas public schools/ for a least 3 years and graduated from a Texas H.S. (which we had no control as a state to block) -— to allow them to PAY in-state tuition as they apply for legal citizenship so they will support themselves and not continue being on the welfare system, the Federal nanny state imposed welfare condition. #77

Ricardo's made a career pandering to ILLEGAL aliens and the third-world piss hole from whence they came. Anyone who says he would change course if elected to the most powerful position in the US government is either seriously delusional or impressed by his pandering and wants more.

RE :"That’s freakin hilarious! Does the ManBearPig eat their eggs

I am afraid that Liz is a bad influence on me.

A few of those birds swooped in on her about a Perry fact comment she posted. So she made a reply about it not bothering her and her 'being used to the Perrydactus attacking her' and I almost fell out of my chair laughing at that term. Then the wheels started turning, I still miss the Trump-bots :)

stephenjohnbanker, I never said you weren’t a conservative. I never said anything about you at all. You were copied on a post to me and I don’t know why, and then you responded and then I wrote what I wrote, in which I specifically said I don’t know you or anything about you and I was speaking of others.

So I take you at your word that you are conservative.

I am conservative. Can you take me at my word on that?

I’m a great person, a swell poster, with tons of personality....and the best part is I’m v-e-r-y humble.

ROTFL.
