Damn I *knew* it was hot. But Texas! Your average temperature was 86! No wonder you caught on fire- just horrible. I hope you get some rain and cooler temps soon.

So, it happened before, and is there a record date before that one?
I guess there are some who miss that mile thick icecap over most of the continent.

NOAA has been fudging temperature data for a while now. There are far more thermometers recording temperature data than are used for calculating these so-called "average" temperatures. The data they get is solely dependent on which thermometers they select. Don't believe any summaries they publish until they make ALL of the actual temperature data available.
Have you ever seen the "Texas thermometer"? Where is it? Have you ever seen the "US Thermometer"? Where is it? Of course, there isn't any. The data are all calculated, from data that is not made available to you and me.
I know, I know. The old joke, during the automobile hay day, was that if you needed to give the US an enema, you would place the tube in Akron, Ohio. I suppose you could put the thermometer there, too.

Not only is it a shame that many had to suffer through this heat, it's a even bigger shame that the gullible will be more likely to listen to madman Al “millions of degrees” Gore and his horrific AGW nightmare fantasy scam.

In CA, however, it has been one of the coolest summers ever. You don't hear about that do you? Also, what about Ireland and their coolest(almost cold)summer since 1850 and the fact their winter is predicted to be colder than last year.
Only report stuff that can be used to tout global warming(er..climate change)is the motto of the MSM.

Summer’s over already and all the data is in and tallied up? My, how time flies.
