Since I have been responsible for MANY of the entries on this list, let me say that it is NOT (necessarily) a bad thing to use historical analogies to make a point -- in this case, about Governor Palin's strategy with regard to "squishy" vs. "non-squishy" supporters.
What's the use of KNOWING history (and literature) -- if you cannot LEARN from it?

Add a couple more critters to your list: Cher Arni (WWI) and G.I. Joe (WWII, a couple feathered heroes that brought their messages home in time to save lives, despite enemy fire and serious injury.
Game on!

I’m disappointed that I’m not on the list. :(
The Palins and I are kindred spirits.

We all stand on the shoulders of giants. If Sarah wants to stand on the accomplishments of these and others, enabling her to see further and clearer, more power to her. I will stand with her!
