FORT LAUDERDALE Nearly three years after a fellow student shot and killed Amanda Collette in the hallway of Dillard High School, the Broward County School Board has agreed to pay her parents $525,000.
Board members voted unanimously Wednesday to settle a civil lawsuit brought last year by the 15-year-old victim's parents, Joyce Collette and Thomas Crowther. There was no discussion of the settlement.
In the lawsuit, the parents claimed Amanda Collette's death in November 2008 could have been prevented. They said a student told a teacher that the shooter, Teah Wimberly, had a gun and had threatened to use it, but the teacher made no report.

Dillard has been a cesspool every since I can remember and my remembrance goes all the way back to the 50’s!
It has always been 100% Amish .. Oh wait ..
Naturally the little girl was too afraid to sign her name to anything against that thug. He's probably the one that was slashing tires in the parking lot later that day. I wish he'd gotten the dean's car. That would have been nice.

The murderer, Teah Wimberly, was a "lesbian" at 15, and her advances were rejected.
Obviously Amanda's intolerance was more serious than murder from ambush, and lesbians are "special", so Teah won't have to apologize from the chair.
Good to know that the Broward School Board has agreed to cut a check. Too bad that everyone else in the county will have to pay for it. Not the school board.
used tah cut through the neighbor hood in me ole Southern Bell truck headed to Okland Park to sign off for the day...Always wanted to run the AH,es over that were walking in the road doing their jive ass crap and just being in your face a-holes......
Believe it or not .. I can remember when That neighborhood was upper middle class and NO Amish lived in the area! 8)
Next time a student tells you another student has a knife on school property, either confront that student yourself, or call a cop.
You acknowledged by your post that your school administration wont act, and you don't feel qualified to deal with it yourself.
Better yet, quit your job.
We all know you won't quit your union membership, don't we?
Shot in the back is murder in the *second* degree? I beg to differ, no way, no how...

I was going to do you the honor of giving you a serious reply, but a quick look at your comments to other people in this forum revealed you to be abusive, belligerent and not worthy of engaging in any type of rational discussion. I pity Sara. You have a problem.
Did I hurt your “feelings” because I don't sympathize with your predicament as a government employee, constrained from doing your job to the best of your ability, because you are following “orders”?
You were going to “honor me with a serious reply” when you have already stated your idea of “professional responsibility” was to report a problem to administration, and then wash your hands of the matter?
Really?
LOL!
You think “sarasmom” is an abusive, irrational, belligerent entity with a problem?
ROTFLMAO!
Hey, A_perfect_lady, let me give you the chance to rent a clue, about operating in the real world:
No excuse for abject failure is accepted by people who believe themselves to be professionals in their field. Unless you are a member of a Labor Union, where no excuse for failure is required.
Venomous, arrogant, and ignorant is no way to go through life, hon.
