It really started going downhill in the late 60’s. I left SoCal around 1973, and by that time, we started using the term “barrio” a lot.
After the fall of Saigon, East LA also became home to Vietnamese refugees, which has actually had a stabilizing effect, from what I can tell.
But still. Do you know just how HARD it would be to dig up Disneyland and move it somewhere else? So we can’t give up on California!
