Unemployment is the problem, but Americans see no clear solution

...new poll from Pew Research Center and The Washington Post suggests that none of the ideas is a guranteed clear winner in the eyes of the public.

For example, 36 percent of Americans think additional infrastructure spending would do a lot to help the nation’s job situation, while 21 percent think an infrastructure plan wouldn’t do anything at all.

When it comes to cutting taxes on businesses, as many leading Republicans suggest, there’s a similar pattern: 31 percent say it would do a lot to create jobs, while 27 percent think it wouldn’t do anything at all.

It's the same story when people were asked whether budget cuts designed to reduce the deficit would help improve the nation's job situation.

Obama and his would-be Republican challengers, who held a nationally televised debate Wednesday, are turning their focus to jobs after a summer in which Washington was preoccupied by a battle over cutting the federal budget deficit.

But all along, it appears more Americans have been fretting about the job market than the deficit issues.

More than four in 10 Americans said the job situation is the economic problem that worries them the most, according to Pew, while only 2 in 10 said it was the federal budget deficit.

The percentage of people citing job worries has swelled in recent months, as the job market has remained tight and hiring has seemed to slow.

Last month the economy created no jobs, according to a government report issued Friday. That leaves at least 14 million Americans looking for work.

Unemployment isn’t the problem. The problem is finding all that “free” money to buy Democrat voters. Democrats don’t care how many people have jobs. They think that jobs are demeaning. Welfare, now there’s a proud program.

Gee wonder why? With all the editorials and commentary on supply side economics and non-keynsian solutions you'd think the 31% would be higher. /sarc

The solution to the “unemployment” problem is rather obvious but multi-faceted:

1. Eliminate welfare (don’t reform it, eliminate it);
2. Gut the EPA, eliminate the DOE’s (Energy & Education)
3. Curtail products liability litigation
4. Get rid of the unions, public and private
5. End the minimum wage
6. Balance the federal budget w/o tax increases

The problem isn’t unemployment, or that Americans can’t agree on what needs to be done. The problem is that either Americans lack the political will to confront the real problems and fix them. In fact, the American body politic lacks the political will to do even one of the above.

Unemployment is the problem, but Americans see no clear solution

Step one, remove the impediment-in-chief.

I gotta go along with what Alexander HAMILTON, the other Founding Fathers, and Donald Trump all say........we need tariffs. Tariffs, and the American worker, worked out pretty well for 160 years.

We can start immediately by slapping a 25% tax on all goods manufactured in china/asia.

Unemployment is not the problem it’s a SYMPTOM of the problem, which is a free market that has been straight-jacketed by labor laws, environmental laws, welfare, warfare on profits, and on and on.

Free the market from the government straight-jacket and there will more jobs than people.

Solutions:

1. Put in Tariffs on Cheap imported goods—like cars.
2. Break the backs of the Unions. Teachers and Gov. Workers first.
3. Bring back the draft for all 18-19 year old Young Men and woman BUT Don’t send them to war unless they volunteer to do so. Send them to the National Parks—Vista, Americorps etc...
4. Start a new Branch of the Military—The Border Guard— Lie the Coast Guard but on Land—to guard the borders.
5. Built the fence —really a manned chain of forts across the border. (see #4)
6. Pull our troops out of Europe and Japan.
7. Drill, drill, drill for oil
8. Dig, dig dig for coal
9. Drill for Natural Gas
10. Build refineries on old military bases.
11. Put in more windmills to make Eco-freaks happy.
12. Build more steam Trains!
13. Used Gm to build good cheap cars—maybe electric ones too. How about 3 wheeled cars like the old Morgan?
14. Start to build new monuments to American Freedom—to put people to work. Finish Crazy Horse Monument!
15. Put Prisoners to work using Chain Ganges. Dig more canals, build more schools—use them to re-build Railroads.
16. Bring in guest workers to build what we need—FROM CHINA
17. Rebuild our cities—cut entitlements. work or starve.
18. Build Prison Colonies in Alaska for those who will not work—let then dig gold mines! Let em Freeze to death in an American Gulag. Those that don’t die will be stronger.
19. Round up all illegals—put a reward of $1,000 for every illegal turned in. Anyone who hires them—off to Alaska for ten years!
20. Drug tests for all Americans—those who fail—Alaska!

Remember that a lot of manufacturing has moved offshore or even been abandoned in favor of foreign competitors. Raise tariffs and all of a sudden you have much higher prices on a lot of necessary goods that no longer have significant domestic sources, and a considerable lead time to restart any real US manufacturing presence. This will quite effectively kill the small businesses that resell those products, but won't do a thing in the short run to boost American manufacturing.

Having screwed this up over a long period of time, we will now have to try to fix it over a long period of time.

Cab anyone say: REPEAL NAFTA.

That’s just for starters.

Terminate anything related to Agenda 21.

BTW, NAFTA is related to Agenda 21, read the Preamble: Goal: Promote Sustainable Development/Agenda 21

This country simply will not survive if this is not done.

American body politic lacks the political will?

“The America of my time line is a laboratory example of what can happen to democracies, what has eventually happened to all perfect democracies throughout all histories. A perfect democracy, a “warm body” democracy in which every adult may vote and all votes count equally, has no internal feedback for self-correction…. [O]nce a state extends the franchise to every warm body, be he producer or parasite, that day marks the beginning of the end of the state. For when the plebs discover that they can vote themselves bread and circuses without limit and that the productive members of the body politic cannot stop them, they will do so, until the state bleeds to death, or in its weakened condition the state succumbs to an invader — the barbarians enter Rome.” -Robert A. Heinlein’s To Sail Beyond the Sunset
