SIMI VALLEY, Calif. The scrap between Rick Perry and Mitt Romney may have gotten more attention in Wednesdays presidential candidates debate, but it was tame compared to the dust-up between Mr. Perry and Rep. Ron Paul, two Texans who apparently have spent plenty of time digging up dirt on each other and arent afraid to use it.
At one point when the video cameras werent rolling though the incident was caught by still photographers Mr. Perry walked over Mr. Pauls lectern, took hold of the congressmans wrist and wagged his finger at him.
The physical exchange was matched by the intensity of the two mens verbal attacks on each other.

Yeah, Perry was a lot more conservative as a Democrat than Reagan was as a Democrat. Perry was considered one of the most conservative members of the Texas House, while Reagan called himself a "liberal New Deal Democrat" until at least 1948.
You might want to give up on this line of attack - all you do is point out the similarities between Perry and Reagan.
On second thought - keep it up!
What, he was a masked wrestler in his other life?
Ive known people who do that, and its clearly a weak strategy when attempting to dominate conversations, silence an opponent and or intimidate.
Sometimes Ron Paul is right and sometimes he is wrong. It doesn’t matter. Its not about Ron Paul.
Physically bullying an old gentleman is punk behavior.
Any so called conservatives who would condone such behavior are low class punks. Fight the political battles like you mean it, but don’t bully old gentleman doctors.
If Perry’s so manly, perhaps he can take on Acorn. .. oh wait, there is a picture of him as governor smiling with Acorn. I guess maybe he only bullies old men etc..
” I’d read some about him, but had never seen him talk or debate before. Overall, I’d have said that he’s in the bland Romney, “write anything you want on to him” category. Don’t hate him or love him, because there isn’t much there to feel one way or the other about — before this. Now, he just looks rude and weak to me. “
You took the words right out of my brain. Spot on.
Ron Paul looks surprised and Perry looks pissed. Ron Paul isn't an easy guy to intimidate, so I wouldn't use that as a gauge.
Perry again looks furious at Ron Paul. Ron Paul is laughing and Huntsman is leaning away from Perry and toward Ron Paul. Paul is not intimidated, but Perry is puffed up like a gorilla trying hard to be intimidating.
Bad form.
Like he did back in 1987, to run against Ronald Reagan.

Uhhhhh...Ronald Reagan was on his way out of office in 1987. In 1988, Ron Paul was running against George H. Bush -- "Mr. New World Order" never having been president would not have harmed this country one iota.
” However, my point is that I damn well want someone up there that will intimidate, bully or grab by the throat if necessary, to get folks attention and get this thing back on track. “
” Im looking for someone that will be a mensch, a man, a leader...and if necessary, a bully...to get something different going. “
” If being tough, intimidating or even bullying will get it done, Im for it. “
Take a 30 second break from the apologetics and try to visualize Reagan in the campaign pulling something like this. According to your statements Reagan would not qualify as a mensch or a man in your book. I beg to differ.
Even if Ron Paul had called him a Satanist, he’s a crazy old man. If Perry doesn’t have the capacity to win the war of ideas and expose Paul for a fool, and has enough of a control issue to lay hands on a decrepit old man in a nationwide media venue, he’s not stable enough for the big leagues...not by a long shot.
My next question is whether his wife has ever had unexplained bruises. If he were an average joe, that’s what your next thought would be, too.
Slow down and read before you kneejerk attack posters who are trying to support your point. Don’t worry, it didn’t leave a mark. Cheers
You are right. I was confusing two topics and not paying attention to the year.
Ron Paul left the Republican party over mostly over frustration of Reagan and the republican party’s poor handling of deficit and debt.
But it wasn’t Reagan he was running against in 1988.
From Ron Paul letter leaving the Republican party:
Since 1981, however, I have gradually and steadily grown weary of the Republican Partys efforts to reduce the size of the federal government. Since then Ronald Reagan and the Republican Party have given us skyrocketing deficits, and astoundingly a doubled national debt. How is it that the party of balanced budgets, with control of the White House and Senate, accumulated red ink greater than all previous administrations put together? Tip ONeill, although part of the problem, cannot alone be blamed.
...
Under Reagan, the IRS has grown bigger, richer, more powerful, and more arrogant. In the words of the founders of our country, our government has sent hither swarms of tax gatherers to harass our people and eat out their substance. His officers jailed the innocent George Hansen, with the President refusing to pardon a great American whose only crime was to defend the Constitution. Reagans new tax reform gives even more power to the IRS. Far from making taxes fairer or simpler, it deceitfully raises more revenue for the government to waste.
...
I want to totally disassociate myself from the policies that have given us unprecedented deficits, massive monetary inflation, indiscriminate military spending, an irrational and unconstitutional foreign policy, zooming foreign aid, the exaltation of international banking, and the attack on our personal liberties and privacy.
...
If Ronald Reagan couldnt or wouldnt balance the budget, which Republican leader on the horizon can we possibly expect to do so? There is no credibility left for the Republican Party as a force to reduce the size of government. That is the message of the Reagan years.

If I were Perry, I'd get in his face about it too.
Paul always seemed to have rather shady people in his circle.
” Says someone too ashamed of his own state to list it on his profile. “
” Touche’ “
Stalkers’ lament.
Wasn’t supposed to leave a mark, you said:
“”Rick Perry is quite comfortable getting physical””
I asked, what was he a masked wrestler in his other life?
No attack here or was meant. My question is legitimate.
If he has a history of getting physical with people, I’d like to see it.
Agreed. Alex Jones, for one.
you’re just what the American people need to keep us right where we’re at. “broke”. people like you who back the status quo make me sick.
He does seem to send that message ... a lot. He seems quite often to lecture people about how everything they know is wrong. If you know a guy like that, you probably want to give him a swirly, not elect him as your president.

If he has a history of getting physical with people, Id like to see it. “
Tired sigh.
Perry is a mature man, and a person who needs to prove his point by an act of physical intimidation is not showing a new personality trait that just hit him that morning while he was shaving. Any implication that Perry has physically assaulted people as part of his public record has nothing to do with what I posted and everything to do with your imagination.
I repeat myself, please read my actual posts before you respond.
Show me where I ever used the “status quo” phrase.
But if you are sick have some tea and go to bed.
I agree. The big party favorites, status quo for the insiders, with some telling others, vote for my guy or your a loser/commie, just don’t get it anymore.
That group think crap has been beat to death, with fewer falling for it all the time.
Well, if he’s not tired, I am...Out
