PRESS RELEASE
MANASSAS, Va., Sept. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Richard A. Viguerie, Chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, issued the following statement regarding the outcome of the Republican presidential debate at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California:
"No one knocked Rick Perry off his perch.
"There are two principal tests a candidate must pass to become the Republican nominee in 2012.
"First, the candidate must be seen to be a conservative. Second, the candidate must convince Republican primary voters that he or she can beat President Obama.
"When Governor Perry announced his candidacy, I said he was the only candidate who met both tests.
"There were eight candidates on the stage. To win the debate, one of the other GOP contenders had to meet those two tests--be seen as a conservative and show he or she can beat Obama. And the person had to show he or she can do those two things better than Rick Perry.
"Each of the candidates had their moments and each showed they had a constituency, but none of the other candidates scaled that tall mountain and knocked Perry out of the front runner's role."

Yippee....now we have 2 articles posted announcing a Perry Win.
I agree!
Whoever is in charge of producing his campaign materials really needs to be more aware of inadvertant symbolism. I say that as a Palin supporter who is fully aware that a fallback candidate might be necessary, and Perry appears to be it, at the moment at leasy.
Are you referring to the reflection of his face in the bus panel?
And way behind Perry is...Bachmann, on her way to the basement.
Two faced, fingerpointing in two directions at the same time.
Don’t tell Hillary’s Folly or south40, Cheatacat et al
Yeah, I’m sure everyone in the world picked that up.
The sputterers are ridin’ a little low in the saddle tonight. :)
I don’t know that Perry won, but I will say he survived the night of the long knives quite successfully.
He has opened himself up to the left on SS and I don’t know what he has planned, but he has a plan.
We will know more as things evolve.
Well he certainly wins the balls award for his honesty about SS. Its funny, we all want a ballsy GOP but when they actually show balls then out come the knives saying it was politicially stupid to be ballsy. Go figure.
WTF are you talking about?
I like Sarah too, but it just ain't happening this cycle. Maybe 2020.
You can agree with his position on the matter but fact is politicians are wary of the 3rd rail for a reason.
He didnt go there without a plan. He is seeking debate.
I don’t know what the plan is but he has a plan.
Now he is going to have to sell it.
By the time we wake in the morning there will be 15 Articles about how he is going to make Grandma eat cat food.
