some scandals stay with a person and for their lifetime.

But it hasn't hurt ole bubba that much - he goes on to enjoy fame and fortune and adoration -

Seems a bit lopsided to me.

I agree. Technically, they were both at fault. IMHO, he was MORE at fault because he was married and the POTUS. That being said, some of the decisions one makes in life do seem irreversible. I think this is the case.
