All eyes will be on the national political stage Wednesday night as Texas Gov. Rick Perry, the newly anointed GOP favorite, must navigate pitfalls, landmines, and broadsides from every quarter during his first Republican presidential debate if he hopes to solidify his frontrunner status.
How well Perry holds up under the pressure will determine who has the inside track to win the nomination. If the former cotton farmer-turned-politico performs well and doesnt stumble, it would go along way toward solidifying the growing momentum that has vaulted him to the top of the GOP pack in recent primary polls.

Thank you for the honest question. I appreciate that, seriously.
I also happen to be a Palin supporter.
Right now I support Palin AND Perry and since only ONE of them is a candidate...
But to answer your question let me say 2 things:
1) I don’t believe you’ve read fairly all the things that Cincinatus’ Wife (sp) has posted or you wouldn’t even ask the question.
2) Palin herself has supported Perry in the past.
There’s a lot more to it than that, but I’m going to start there.
Again, thank you for posting a civil question. You don’t see that often from the Perry-critics. You really don’t.
Well, the anti-Perry’s are gathering on this thread, all predicting disaster for Perry.
We’ll see.
But if they’re wrong, they will NOT forget their predictions.
I GUARANTEE it!

I read the article and the comments, could not see WHEN this debate is (what time, Pacific time?) I am thinking I will watch it on CNN.com, because it is not listed on my tv listings.
Anyone knowing the time please reply.
Prediction: Rick will Rock the House
Then you, like me, know and understand how he was raised, the CORE values held by those who came up at that time in that part of the world, and that he never was, and cannot be a liberal in the current sense of that word!
He will wipe the floor with the Obastard because he doesn’t have to be coached to know what he believes!
Be interesting to watch and hear Romney as he gets all self righteous against Perry
but then again Romney might just stand there with his mouth shut...
pretending to be a lampshade...
The only thing I will say and promise is that if Perry is our nomination he will have my full positive support. However, this is the primary and this is the time to give opinions of the person who you would rather not have nominated. I will go back and read some stuff that Cincinatus’ Wife put out there, but again during the primary I will express my opinion on Perry. Thank you too!!!!!!!
You can count on it!
I have no problem with people being critical of Perry. I’m not in love with the guy, seriously.
It’s just the behavior of a certain group here in FR (and I perhaps unfairly lumped you in with that group) that has gotten to me lately.
The way they jump on each and every Perry thread with such viciousness and mean-spiritedness.
I apologize for some of my previous posts to you. I went too far in my rhetoric. I got over-heated.
I’m going to cool it somewhat from now on. I know that feelings are running strong right now on many sides and I’m just going to back off a bit and post what I think and try to stay out of arguments.
That’s what I’m taking away from our discussion today. And I thank you for that.
You’re going to see a kinder, gentler sametheman going forward.
(Even if it hurts!)
We all get passionate about politics. That is why we are here. I love this place because we all are conservatives but have differences. Wouldn’t be much of a debate if we all agreed with everything. It would be pretty boring in fact. Tonight will be interesting for sure. Have a great night!!!! Thank you!!!!

If he does rock the house tonight, its all over.
I suspect he will play it safe and just be is charming self.
When is the debate, and will FOX news carry it?
Perry is an American. He served his country. He was born in the good old USA He didn't pal around with Weather Underground people, racist reverends and commies. It's fine to vet him but do we have to go overboard and crucify the man. He's not the enemy. He governed Texas for three terms and Texas is not only still standing... it's doing better than the rest of the states.
I expect Perry will do well, and that Romney will elevate himself a bit after slipping in the polls a bit.
Tonight is the night Bachmann fades away.
debate is on MSNBC and CNBC at 8 tonight. Put on by NBC news.
