Authorities said Tuesday that they are investigating the death of an Arkansas man found in an unfilled hot tub with a sleeping TV meteorologist.
Maumelle police were summoned Monday morning to the home where they found Dexter Williams' body in the hot tub.
The homeowner told authorities that Williams and the meteorologist, Brett Cummins of Little Rock television station KARK, had been at his home Sunday night. The homeowner said the next morning, he found Cummins asleep in the hot tub and Dexter Williams next to him. Williams' face was discolored and he had with a chain around his neck, police said. The hot tub was not filled with water.
Maumelle police Lt. Jim Hansard said investigators haven't ruled out foul play in the death of Williams, 24, of Mountain Pine. An autopsy is being conducted on Williams' body.
Cummins spoke with authorities, but police declined to release his statement, citing the ongoing investigation. He has not been charged in Williams' death and no arrests had been made by Tuesday evening.
Cummins did not respond to a phone message left Tuesday.
Mike Vaughn, the general manager for KARK, said Cummins reported to work Monday. He said the station had received the police report about Williams' death and was working to figure out what happened, but he declined to comment further.
KARK reported on Williams' death in a post on its website and added that Cummins "will not be on the air as he is mourning the loss of his friend."

Oooooo, boy.
Stormy weather ahead......
Now there’s the sign of a successful party.
According to a police report, officers responded to 16 Village Way around 8 a.m. Monday and found the naked body of 24-year-old Dexter Williams lying on the floor of what was described as a Jacuzzi hot tub. Williams reportedly had what appeared to be a dog collar around his neck. It was connected to a silver chain.
The homeowner, identified as 36-year-old Christopher Barbour, told police Cummins had come over the night before with Williams. He said Cummins and Williams then began drinking and using illegal drugs, the report said.
Barbour reportedly told investigators all three men went into the hot tub, but that he left around 11 p.m. The next morning, Barbour heard Cummins snoring and then saw both he and Williams were still in the tub, which had no water in it, according to the report.
T.M.I.
He got the Dick Morris treatment.
“Hey Dexter do you want to play ‘New York Congressmen?’ “
Ok, so I thought that was the one sentence I'd never read.
The station did cover the incident on its website and on its newscast, noting that Cummins was in the house, that no charges had been filed and that police were investigating whether drugs and alcohol played a role in the death.
“Our Meteorologist Brett Cummins was at the home at the time of the death and we felt we should share this with our viewers,” a posting on the station’s website, arkansasmatters.com, said. “Brett will not be on the air as he is mourning the loss of his friend.”
KARK anchor Bob Clausen read a similar report on the station’s 5 p.m. newscast.
“Our thoughts naturally are with Brett and with the family and friends of Dexter Williams,” he said.
Who’s going to report the weather now?
I think this is normal for a meteorologist.
Freeze the weather reports!
Hope you are doing well.
