Exactly what can Governor Perry do that he cannot do wherever he’s at?
Your firefighters and national guard and militaries are doing everything that can be done and any bills to be signed for recovery from the fires are going to have to wait until after the fires are finished anyway.
He can always do a fly-by and sign the bills passed by your legislature.
But I do appreciate the emotional situation for the governor to look like he’s doing something.
There are very competent people at the state level working this fire...I know most of them...and they already have the governors "OK" to do what needs to be done.
So again...what do you expect Perry to do? Fly a C-130 himself and drop retardant? I mean I know he probably could but he's probably a little rusty...

The Feds have taken over the fire fighting command, (at least in the Bastrop fire) turning local volenteers away.
Perry can coordinate from a far if necessary.
