You should be embarrassed by your own ignorance. I've been hearing about wildfires in Texas on and off for, well, here's some news on that subject, from Perry himself:
Since December, wildfires in Texas have claimed 3.5 million acres (1.4 million hectares), an area the size of Connecticut, Perry said. The fires have destroyed more than 1,000 homes, he said.
Actually, the fires in Texas and the news stories have been going on even longer than I remembered.
I’ve counted at least 5-6 other posts that have corrected you as well. Don’t attempt to broad-brush these latest natural disasters with all the other wildfires Texas is suffering with. That - as I said - is ignorant.
As one who was evacuated from the Bastrop fires, I know - first hand - what I’m speaklng about when it comes to the intensity of these fires.
Gov. Perry should be in Texas making the executive decisions that will save lives and property.
You, sir, are ignorant. Maybe also an idiot.
Yes, Texas has been burning for months. Horrible fires last spring west of Fort Worth.
But this week has been the worst. High north winds generated by Tropical Storm Lee in Louisiana, coupled with relative humidity in single digits and a huge state that is crispy with drought led to horrific NEW fires all over the state YESTERDAY.
Just one spark and you had an out-of-control fire.
Educate yourself.

You are just stunningly wrong.
Thanks for the link but it is dated today and the time I watched, about 15 minutes, they said nothing about how long they have been going on. However, I live right in the middle of it all so I know. There have been isolated fires for about a week. One in Leander burned about twenty-five trailers in a trailer park. It has not rained in this area and much of Texas since early March.
Now the situation has suddenly gotten worse. Fires are popping up all over the state, big ones, and the wind was making it much worse. Perry is coordinating the state police response, the Texas Department of Wildlife, various fire departments, the national guard and he has asked for assets from Ft. Hood which is just up the road. There are planes and helicopters from several agencies that must be managed, fire equipment from many agencies, personnel from many agencies, etc. There are a lot of people involved.
