Obama warns GOP in advance of jobs speech

President Obama sent a warning shot across the bow of congressional Republicans in his Labor Day speech in Detroit this afternoon, pledging to hold them accountable publicly if they fail to support the job-creation plan he puts forth later this week.

The proposal he’ll outline in his address to Congress on Thursday is filled with “bipartisan ideas,” Obama said, and Republicans can either get on board or explain their refusal to the American people.

“I’m going to propose ways to put people to work [that] both parties can agree to,” Obama said. “We’re going to see if congressional Republicans will put country before politics.”

Obama held back specifics of his plan as he addressed the crowd of union activists, many of whom want to see him propose a bold spending plan that would create jobs and spur the economy. The Democratic president suggested he will call for road and bridge construction, but he did not hint at its scope or cost.

Despite the lack of specifics, however, the union crowd interrupted Obama’s remarks several times with chants of “four more years!”

This is how they will frame everything, until November 2012: “They are putting party before country.” Regardless of the facts of any given issue. But, you folks don’t need me to tell you that....

“We’re going to see if congressional Republicans will put country before politics.”

Setting the stage for more finger pointing and whining from the lame duck that "the republicans won't let me spend anymore to put people back to work ".

I hope the Republicans eviscerate this two-bit know nothing. All his plans EVER do is increase gov't and gov't spending.

Other than bankruptcy paralegals, I bet this administration can not name one PERMANENT private sector job that has been created or saved in the last 2 1/2 years directly attributable to the stimulus. I would love to see the eventual Republican nominee ask Obama that question in a debate. He cannot name one because the few private sector jobs he created or saved were all temporary that self destruct when the stimulus runs out.”Just name one,Barry” should be the permanent Republican 2012 campaign battle cry.

How appropriate and ironic that Obama would complain about republicans not working to create jobs...while in Detroit.

DETROIT?

The city that has seen it’s population decimated in the last 40 years thanks to power hungry unions and failed democrat leadership.

Amazingly in 2010, the State of Michigan collectively came to their senses and said “we can’t afford to vote for the democrats any more.” Don’t be shocked when Obama loses Michigan in the 2012 election.

You aren’t in any position to warn anyone about anything, Zero. Now sit down, shut up, and come 2013, let the adults drive.

President Bankrupt is already a national joke. His phony above-it-all pseudo patriotic posture won’t fool anybody who isn’t already completely in the tank for him.

It’s bi-partisan because he says it’s so. It’s not bi-partisan until both parties endorse it. That dumbass is incapable of learning. He’s not smart, just crafty, and not too crafty at that.

Well, we’ll see how this sells Thursday night.

So...I guess he's telling us to not call his bluff - again?

Why are these guys attending the speech? Obama is just making them props so he can read his teleprompter. I’d be watching the game and telling Obama to email me the text.

RUSH nailed this last week. He said they would submit lots of Keynesian crap that no Republican will vote for and one item like letting the foreign corporation profits come back they can support. Then he will play scorched earth blaming he republicans for the lack of a jobs program.

Those attendants are only temps until 2013. The new Republican first lady will only require 40 or so.
