The article focused on Perrys comments at a Border Summit speech in south Texas (8-22-01), days before the 9-11 attacks, about bi-national health insurance Texas-funded coverage for both U.S. and Mexican border residents. The governors statement favored a study, required by the Legislature, about "the feasibility of bi-national health insurance.
The DMN continued, "Katherine Cesinger, spokeswoman for Perrys campaign, downplayed the topic of bi-national health insurance. 'A bill was passed by the Legislature that authorized a study to look into this issue, which ultimately concluded there were numerous barriers to accomplishing that idea, and the Legislature took no further action on this concept,' she said." However, in spite of the Legislatures failure to act, Perry made clear his willingness to funnel Texass assets to Mexico.

Perry has consistently positioned himself as a social and fiscal conservative, but the above comments reveal a different record. Indeed, four years later, Perry noted his approval of a bigger example of socialized medicine when he embraced Hillary Clintons national health care plan.

Usually the pro-Perry articles are posted once per article, not the same exact story posted day after day after day after day for days on end, even after they’ve been debunked multiple times.
But i figure people can post whatever they want. I think the Perry supporters are probably spending too much time giving these rehashed posts the time of day.
Yes let’s not deal with anything negative or critical about our favorite candidates.
Let’s be good little libs and crush out all dissent.
Might as well deal with it NOW and get it figured out if possible, before the LIBS COME BASHING HIM WITH IT.
Just asking the questions, not making any accusations...
WTF? You Perrybots make up the craziest BS!!!
Did you really have to ask. That is what this argument has boiled down to, insulting people’s mothers.
If you are a Perry supporter, you should probably be happy that the same non-scandals are being recirculated day-in, and day-out. It proves three things. One, they don’t have anything seriously to attack your candidate about. Two, it’s not working for them, so they have to keep repeating it. Three, they are scared to death — if they stop, it will be because they no longer view Perry as a threat.
If you like arguing, these are fun threads.
Using the John Birch Society as a source of information doesn’t really boost one’s case.
Well that no good RINO! What a POS! Makes me sick. He’s done absolutely NOTHING for this country. Worthless! Born with a silver spoon in his mouth; for guardisil, for TTC, for illegals coming across the border and flooding the country and for them killing the border agents and ranchers.
He’s a louse. He has no solutions he just wants to be elected.
You have a problem with that? BTW, they were able to more than pay for the program through savings realised when Perry passed tort reform.
There’s a tag-team of John Birch postings tonight. I’m not sure if that is a step up from the politico/salon/DU-type links from before.
How do you know he’s a Palin supporter? He could be supporting some other candidate, but isn’t allowed to say. Who really is helped the most by these posts? Who is being beaten down by the Perry candidacy?
Definitely Not. Guilt-by-association is a pitiful argument no matter whose ox is gored. Palin went through this, most of her supporters dispise this crap, but a few apparently decided to learn the techniques and employ them against other conservatives.
You lifted this story from DU, and it’s a John Birch Society hit piece.
What a ridiculous thread. I wish there was an ignore feature on this site, because you have proven yourself to be a fool and a DU troll.
Welcome to the new FR. JimRob is going to ZOT us, CajunConservative, for clowns like this Tempest guy. Seems like a counterproductive way to keep FR alive, but what do I know? I've only owned my own successful business for 15 years now.
Prior posts - Tempest has constantly been posting in concert with a whole cadre of Palinistas. However, looking back, it is hard to tell for certain who Tempest supports. It could be Palin, could be Bachmann, could be Paul... So, take the questions I asked and substitute the approriate name...
Yes, really.
Plus, Perry has been headlining Tea Party events for two years while still serving as governor of Texas. I can’t say the same about a certain lady who quit her job and now is running around the country purporting to be the leader of the Tea Party Express.
As a matter of fact, one of the potential big advantages to the private bi-national health insurance was that it would take the burden off of SCHIPS -- a program most conservatives loathe.
Again, this was a conservative, private market approach to solving the insurance problem in Texas. You should be praising Perry for it, but you are so blinded by your hatred of the man, that you just can't see it.
The news is so old, there aren't many links for me to share about it. Here is one from a WaPo blogger that outlines some of the same points I am making though:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/ezra-klein/post/rick-perry-was-right-on-binational-health-insurance/2011/09/01/gIQAPgdcuJ_blog.html
P.S. -- the blog entry is not from left-wing hack Ezra Klein. It is from their health care reporter.
Agreed, but sometimes these trolls get on my nerves.
Obama wants the GOP to run a nonvetted candidate.
Exactly. The GOP candidate is going to be made into a monster by this Evil Regime.
Whether we get there slowly or rapidly, socialism is socialism.
RINOs and Rats = vote for the lesser to two evils.
Vote conservative, all the time!
