Michele Bachmann deputy campaign manager to depart
Politico ^ | Sept. 5, 2011 | Maggie Haberman

Posted on 09/05/2011 4:52:07 PM PDT by Al B.

On the heels of our report that Michele Bachmann campaign manager Ed Rollins is stepping back into an advisory role, citing health concerns, comes word that his deputy, David Polyansky, is leaving the campaign.

"I wish Michele nothing but the best, and anyone who underestimates her as a candidate does so at their own peril," Polyansky told POLITICO. Continue Reading

But a GOP source familiar with the situation said that Polyansky had "strategic differences on the path forward" with the candidate, who has struggled to gain traction in the last few weeks.

Polyansky and Rollins led the team that brought Bachmann to her Ames Straw Poll win in Iowa, along with a handful of others like veteran pollster Ed Goeas. It wasn't immediately clear who was taking over the top two day-to-day slots.

If memory serves, she has a history of staff turnover.

Yep. Michele is good at many things, but keeping staff is not one of them. Apparently she burns people out. Maybe that happened here too, but then again, maybe not.

I hear she is on her EIGHTH chief of staff. In five years.

Bachmann is going nowhere and she knows it. She is merely a place holder for Sarah.

Here’s the nut graph:

Bachmann’s top-tier position in national and early-state polls has become a thing of the past — even according to Rollins — who told CNN’s John King Monday night that it’s currently a race between Texas Gov. Rick Perry and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney for the GOP nomination.

Perry’s entrance into the race upstaged Bachmann’s victory in the Ames Straw Poll last month — and he’s now stealing her thunder, and her donors, Rollins said.”

They were chartering big planes, big staff follows her, plus her husband is big spender and controller. They already started dreaming as they are Mochelle.
They are out of money.

The long-term congressional staffer is the exception not the rule, no?

Back in the days when I looked at political trade papers more than I do now it seemed there were a lot of turnovers in Congressional staff every week. Of course they didn’t list the entire staff size so I’m really not sure.

You have the senior congressional staffers who make a career of bouncing from Congress critter to Congress critter, and then you have the short-term staffers and interns who might work a year before moving on. And then there are the sectaries and office managers who wield the real power...
