(CNN) - Republican presidential candidate and Texas Gov. Rick Perry will not attend the Palmetto Freedom Forum of GOP candidates Monday night, sponsored by Sen. Jim DeMint, and will instead return to Texas to deal with the wildfires in the state, DeMint's office told CNN.

Look at all the post between mine that you just replied to (despite your plea to end the politics on this thread) and this one.
Count the Perryites still posting about politics and attacking Palin.
I’ll help you. Almost every single post.
Man you are dumb!
And you spoke well - and spoke exactly what I feel. And thank you for your kind thoughts. And, yes, I have been concerned about my friend who lost her home and am still concerned about her and her family as they are still in Bastrop. And also I’ve worried about other relatives who have been in harm’s way that we have not heard from - I just pray no news is good news.
Thanks for the info on the winds - that is really good news to hear!
Was looking forward to his participation in the forum, but it’s certainly understandable that he would immediately suspend the Presidential campaign and return to Texas asap in light of the situation. Good Luck and prayers to the folks down there.
The hard-core Perry bashers are making fools of themselves by trying to make points out of this. There are about 10 a-holes here in FR who follow every Perry thread, don't post much of anything else anywhere else and seem to be h*ll-bent on doing the DU dirtywork of smearing a good solid conservative Republican prospect for President.
They never miss an opportunity to make a-holes out of themselves and this issue is no different.
What your seeing is mostly disgruntled Palin supporters trying to tear down other candidate(s) that they know she probably can't beat anymore. Palin is not running, and sometime near the end of this month she will confirm that. Once that happens those people will whine, flail about and cry that the "establishment" is out to get her and that's why she didn't run, etc. The truth is the path she has taken from quitting her job as Governor, doing RealityTV, teasing about whether she will run, etc, has just alienated far more conservatives than it has attracted to her cause. Eventually we will end up with a nominee from the candidates that actually are running, Governor Palin will enthusiastically support that candidate, and most of us will rally behind him or her.Words of wisdom, Longbow1969. Words of wisdom.
You Palinbots aren't helping Sarah with your endless attacks on others in the GOP race. You do realize this, right? If Sarah is to run, she is going to need the support of those she seeks to defeat. Your tactics are disgusting, and it is being noticed by a lot of FReepers. Turning this thread into politics, which is what one of your fellow Palinbots did in the second post, and you continuing it, are simply the actions of desperate and pathetic people. Many of the Palinbots in FR these days remind me EXACTLY of Paulbots. EXACTLY. There is absolutely no distinction between the worst of the Palinbots (and it's a growing number, I count at least 10 now, maybe 20) and the average Paulbot. No distinction at all.
You notice that too? I may just copy your post to my notepad and paste it in (with attribution) at appropriate times - like 20 times a day!
I don’t see where he has a choice. Theres a crisis ,he’s in charge,so he has to return and deal with it. I have no idea why people are getting so worked up over Perry to say such hateful things about him all the time.
Excellent post and thanks for the prayers. Good to hear you have had rains - the drought here has been devastating and worse than I have ever seen in my lifetime. Where I live we have mostly bad grass fires - my son and grandson got caught in one of these fires on a highway and my grandson developed pneumonia the next day from smoke inhalation. So many dangers with these conditions.
And you are right, Obama is the enemy and has never done anything to help Texas. We need to stay focused on the big picture and big threat. I’ve always said whoever gets the nominaton in our party, gets my vote. None are perfect, but all infinitely better than Obama.
Still, today my focus is not on politics - more serious things on my heart and mind at this time. Breaks my heart to see all that has been happening to my beloved state over the last year.
Thanks again for your kind words and prayers. Much appreciated by me and and I know by all who are, literally, in the line of fire.
I'm with you. See my tagline.
Oh really? How many firefighters could you muster up to fight dozens of wildfires that sprang up instantly, of the 14,000 acres kind with dense dry pine forest?
You wanna brag much on what YOU can do to put it out?
You don’t have to whisper that. Everyone knows it. What’s your point?
And so do you also it against Palin that she resigned from the ethics committee when working for Murkowski? I mean she had a contract then too, you blame her for that?
Yes, we are ardent supporters BECAUSE of Perry’s record and our good relationship with him.
And YES, there have been wildfires all summer, just in case you didn’t remember Texas not getting one spit of help from the feds and told there was NO MONEY TO HELP. Yet just last week Oblame-o promises the NE he will be funneling money to them for help as fast as he can get the Federal Reserve to print some more up.
Don’t know where it was from and didn’t say. Wind direction should have been wrong for coming from NW. Sure smelled smoke though.
Fires today near county line of Harris and Montgomery. South of Tomball it sounds like. Listening to scanner.
You’re more than welcome to and you can attribute it to me if you want or you can just use it plain. I don’t care either way.
You guys talk a big game but can’t quite explain why he needs to be there.
So if your house was on fire, I guess you wouldn’;t be needed either, which is pro’bly more true than your statement.
I was just politely pointing out that prior governors have not resigned to run for president.
