(CNN) - Republican presidential candidate and Texas Gov. Rick Perry will not attend the Palmetto Freedom Forum of GOP candidates Monday night, sponsored by Sen. Jim DeMint, and will instead return to Texas to deal with the wildfires in the state, DeMint's office told CNN.

There have been many examples of what you say... and it has been coming from both camps. Last week there were several Palin threads that just turned into horrible examples of what we are discussing here. Retribution is caused by these actions and then more retribution takes place in response. Passion is a fine thing... personal attacks are not... in fact... they are against the rules here on FR.
Why don't we try to set the tone by example? That is exactly what I have been trying to do today. Calling people names and attacking them personally will only add flames to the fire... and that is an image that is dead on to this debate. One can be passionate and firm in their convictions without bringing personal attacks into the discussion. There are some in both camps that have gone to the extremes in defense of their candidate... and the guilt resides in both camps. It really does not matter who started it or how much has been perpetrated by either side.
I can refer to a thread where some Perry supporters were almost banned last week... by Jim himself. I know that I do not need to do that... it has been happening on both sides and most here have already read much of it. We can try to control it now... or things can devolve until Jim solves the problem for us. I do not think that any of us want that to happen.

Just damn. Take care of yourself. BTT.
“Texas is burning and you are stooping to the low life mode of making politics out of it.”
Well we do still have a presidential nomination process going on...and I’m simply pointing out how fortunate he is to have a way to skip the debate.
That’s not politics...politics would be saying that he had something to do with the fires - maybe his land-use polices, fire department cuts, etc.
But since I have no clue either way, I simply assume (probably rightly) that the fires are nothing more than the result of the extended drought that we’ve had to deal with since last winter.
But the story was about the debate and the fires, so I didn’t see why I shouldn’t be permitted to point out his luck. If the story was just about the fires (or just about the debate, without mentioning the fires), there’s no way in hell I would have made my comment.
I fully understand your problem with that post.
I have no problem with Perry skipping SC to head back to TX.
I’m not the one who has a problem with the issue of politicians running for higher office as long as they do their jobs while on the campaign trail.
Too many here are trying to use it as an issue when their favorite did the same thing. It’s hypocritical.
I seriously don’t understand your post.
“Politic away ........ you fool.”
I stand by my comment, it was NOT political. I was simply pointing out his run of luck, starting when Bush-43 got elected president.
That’s exactly what was happening last night in the live thread when this first broke.
All the open fields around me are dead. The grassy areas look like someone shredded dried hay and tossed it around. I was so happy when we had a rainy spring; the wild flowers were bursting everywhere. Was hoping for a mild summer (relatively speaking, of course). Instead, we got the oven for weeks on end.
We had a nasty summer like this about a decade ago, but even then, I don't remember it being this bad.
If you really believe that crap you just spewed about Palin, than you are too ignorant for any real discussion. It proves that you have no idea about a person you smear.
Tell me, all knowin one, would YOU have stayed at a job that was costing you more to work there than youj actually made??? Answer that.
That’s horrible. How high are the flames?
Good site for tracking fires: http://ticc.tamu.edu/Response/FireActivity/default.aspx
Thanks. But I think I’m okay but a lot of people, homes, wildlife aren’t. I was just over that stretch of US 71 Saturday. The landscape is brown, grass all dead and most of the woods are like tinder, imo. Parts of east Texas got some rain Sat/Sun from the backside of TD Lee. But the areas being burned weren’t that lucky.
There are 254 counties in Texas and all have been under a burn ban. The winds didn’t help this situation one bit. Again thanks and take care.
Is that the Steiner Ranch fire?
Thats horrible. How high are the flames?
Don’t know but from the photo they are reaching skyward for sure. Some of the local news media in Austin, etc have photo shoots and videos from the area provided by their news people and from the public. One of the biggest problems has been been the wind which was from the backside of TD Lee and now we have a norther headed into the area. People 30+ miles away are finding ashes, etc on their cars/homes etc.
Are her toenails polks dots or stars?
