Although Rick Perry has a rocky record on the illegal immigration front and told voters in New Hampshire yesterday that he doesn't support a border fence for all 2,000 miles of the U.S.-Mexico divide, it appears he has been in contact with Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who is notorious for his crack downs on the illegals in the Grand Canyon State, about how to deal with the issue. The myth that Perry is soft on immigration is nothing more or less than a democratic wet dream. Perry has put more money and manpower on our border than the feds we pay to protect it. Also, when the legislature stalled on the Sanctuary Cities bill that had the many elements of AZ 1070, he tried to shove it through the special session, whereby again the legislature stalled it.
NO, he’s not for a fence across 1200 miles of wilderness that anybody could climb over in two seconds flat. He knows the only thing that can protect that border is troops on the ground. Texas has known this since it became a state when one of the reasons it seceded was because we got no help from the feds to protect it.
