Kicking Rick ( Perry ). Mainstream media and Democrats fear the Texas governor, so they smear him
Pittsburgh Post Gazette ^ | Sept 4, 2011 | Jack Kelly

Posted on 09/03/2011 10:00:12 PM PDT by Clairity

GOP consultant Mark McKinnon says that the editor of a major newspaper told him, "We plan to declare war on Rick Perry and do all in our power to crush him."

Mr. McKinnon was outraged. "No pretense of integrity, professionalism or of unbiased news gathering," he wrote in Investors' Business Daily.

But I doubt he was surprised. This is what the "mainstream" media did to Sarah Palin in 2008, and what likely is in store for anyone Republicans nominate.

But liberals will go after the Texas governor with special venom because he is anti- intellectual, prays in public, takes the Constitution seriously and sometimes carries a handgun, Walter Shapiro wrote in The New Republic.

"It's almost as if Perry's political persona was constructed by bundling together all the fears and phantoms in the left-wing anxiety closet." he said.

I’m getting sick to death of you Perry supporters accusing people of being Paul/Romney/Obama supporters if they don’t happen to agree with you.

Makes you look weak and childish. You need to get over the fact that not everybody is thrilled with Perry.

“If they wanted to actually help their candidate, they’d be finding positive articles to post instead of embarrassing themselves regurgitating DUmmy talking points.”

I am unconvinced that they are trying to help anyone. I think that they see their announced candidate of choice floundering with Perrys’ entrance or they see the (un)announced candidate of their choice continuing to play with their little hearts as if they were marbles and the frustration, shame and embarrassment is being taken out on the front-runner and supporters of him in insulting, abusive ways.

I can think of two of these sad people right away that do not debate, they just attack people in the most childish and disgusting way possible. I won’t name names but I bet they show up on every Perry thread today spitting their impotent venom.

Sarah endorsed Perry for governor, right?

Does that make her a traitor?

Sarah endorsed and campaigned for THE RINO McCain in 2010.

Does that sound like something a conservative would do?

Careful, you could cause aneurysms with a question like that.

Oh I care. I don’t have a problem discussing the qualifications but you were preaching to others not to get caught up in the star power before deciding on a candidate but are busy doing the same thing with Palin.

I don’t support Perry because of his “star power” but because I’m very familiar with how well he’s governed the state for the last 10+ years. He has a proven record of leadership and governing which is what we need after the 0bama terror regime. Has he made mistakes, well of course, he’s human. He does have one major characteristic that I think is needed most which is the ability to listen to the constituents and do as they wish. He’s done that more than once.

The country lost the gamble in voting in a woefully inexperienced POTUS and I don’t think people want to do that again at this time in history.

On another board I visit someone posted a link to a ron paul forum where the do make a point of trolling. The 0bots were really good at trolling lots of conservative boards. In fact one of my favorite christian boards was overrun with them and destroyed the board.

“Why are you behaving like this?”

I’ve had to ask my children that very same question a few times.

Oh, so now she is not vetted? Yea, right. The next time you get bombarded with lawsuits you have to answer personally because you ran over your neighbors petunias, we will just assume you are aggrivated because you got bored with them.

You sir repeated the half truths and outright lies as a means to elevate your chosen candidate and that is not debateable on a level playing field. Remember, I was addressing your regurgitated talking points of her not being either qualified or electable and not lecturing you on why you should not support Perry.

Big difference

Not everyone IS thrilled with Perry. Only most Republicans are. If you look into the posts of some of the most derogatorily anti-Perry people, you’ll find more oftern than not, either Palin or Paul supporters. Once in a while a Bachmann supporter. People that support the other candidates seem to have too much class to behave in such a way.

When someone spends every waking hour posting the same negative drivel over and over on each and every Perry thread, and only Perry threads to the exclusion of all other topics, their motives are suspect in my opinion

I am not surprised. There have been several posters, including you, who have tried to have a discussion with them. They are only interested in one point of view and pat each other on the back before running off to the next thread to do another media style drive-by.

I liked the TTC idea and I wish it had been built. Texas badly needs a replacement for the wholly inadequate I-35 and it needs to be big enough to handle growth for the next few decades. The TTC fit that description. I agree that using a foreign company to build it was probably politically tone deaf but I do not think it was a big deal. Eminent domain will be used when the replacement for I-35 is finally built, you can bet on it. I use the toll road to the Austin airport, I believe it is 130, whenever I have to go there. I understand it was built and is maintained by Cintra. I wish I-35 was as nice as that road. I thought the TTC was a great plan to build a new road without raising my taxes for it, but that is just me.

You sir, which I’m not, are sorely mistaken. You told a poster to not get caught up in the hype of a candidate yet you do it with Palin. I’m reading your comments in another thread where there is a major Palinista pile on a poster simply because she stated her opinion about Palin saying she’s not for sale.

I don’t regurgitate any talking points. I’ve been keeping up with Texas politics for years because I live right next door to it. I get to watch my state lose lots of it’s citizens and big businesses to Texas because of the pro business atmosphere and good economy. If anyone around here gets seriously ill they don’t waste time in getting treatment here but go straight to Houston’s medical complex because the state has made it a priority to be the best in the world. The state has a vision of being a big player on the world stage not just the national stage.

It’s not regurgitating talking points. It’s my own observations. The fact is the state is very well run and for the last 10+ years the state has been run by Rick Perry. He’s not perfect by a long shot, nobody is. He is however, an effective governor.

The guy needs vetting and this is part of it!

All traces of khan/Perry Islamic cirriculam introduced to the Texas schools has been removed from the web.
So what’s he hiding? and who?....

attacks on Perry by her “supporters” are becoming more absurd every day.

Freepers will decide what articles they choose or not to read....Perry needs vetting and his history shown...you can make all the excuses for him you want...but the facts are there. BTW....Next time you use my name in a post do the courtesy of pinging me as most due and the standard here on FR. Instead of just throwing it about with your own comments.

They have nothing else to offset the facts being presented except to sling mud...and excuses....and twisting of the facts....but yes it does get a bit annoying...however scrolling is indeed a good thing.

Veil the obvious all you want...everyone knows who Palin was targeting.....only his supporters are saying otherwise.

You can post all the quotes of Palin you want...fact remains she left no doubt she is not in Perrys court as his supporters are hoping for...and her speech certainly attested to that.

Further we know why she spoke of Perry..WAY back when......just as with McCain.....it’s political manuevering and all will do what they have to to bring about the greater good.
