The modern Texas economy depends on Mexican laborers the way the old Georgia economy depended on African laborers. Perry doesn’t want to disrupt that relationship nor do the short sighted individuals that pay for his political success. I lived in Texas and I voted for Perry once. I don’t necessarily want to do either of those two things again.
Glad someone else sees the parallel. It always amazes me that many of the arguments used to justify the illegal invasion are similar to those used to justify slavery, and it's the Democrats doing it (well many RINOs too). This country's economy booms when labor is relatively expensive. If slave wages made a good economy than why did the South lose the war, and why isn't Mexico an economic world power today?

Nice try at whitewashing the past but your ‘African Laborers” are commonly referred to as SLAVES. Are you seriously suggesting that we let the illegal invasion continue cause it’s collary worked so well in the antebellum south??
Would there be a connection with what you say, and what i heard that the majority of Texas's 'job creation" is low wage labor?
I agree with you, whole heartedly!
