The modern Texas economy depends on Mexican laborers the way the old Georgia economy depended on African laborers.

Glad someone else sees the parallel. It always amazes me that many of the arguments used to justify the illegal invasion are similar to those used to justify slavery, and it's the Democrats doing it (well many RINOs too). This country's economy booms when labor is relatively expensive. If slave wages made a good economy than why did the South lose the war, and why isn't Mexico an economic world power today?

Remember that some of Rick Perry's biggest contrinutors are homebuilders and in the construction industry, which is why Perry doesn't support e-verify either.

Like Bush43, Perry talks a good game about securing the border, but he's a “compassionate conservative” who supports crony capitalism.
