A few years after, I was in Russia. You didn’t miss anything. Horrid nasty place. When we were waiting in the airport to return to the USA, I saw the big blue circle on the tail of our Pan-Am airplane. That plane was the most wonderful site imaginable that I had to fight not to crumble onto the floor but did have tears of joy to be going home.

"Border Patrol reported that three additional suspects absconded from the scene and it appeared to agents the drug smugglers were able to escape to Mexico. The recovered backpacks contained 20 bundles of marijuana weighing more than 245 pounds with an estimated street value of $147,000."
how about these images, the second is from earlier this year:
To me, the saddest thing I saw was elderly women out in fields with scycles (sp) cutting hay or something.
One president might> put enough troops on the border to control it reasonably well.
Then the next president who wants no border control only has to remove the troops.
But people who talk about troops on the border aren't serious about border enforcement because no president will commit the tens of thousands that would be needed to control the border 24/7/365. And a president who wants no border control only has to remove them.
Double fencing and adequate border patrol would be a more long term presence and not so easily tampered with by a new president who wants open borders.
No one said fences stop them all but the fence in “urban land” in San Diego has reduced the crossings by 95%. And I would refer you to bgill’s post # 557.
One thing you can say about Governor Perry is that he listens. This is a good thing.
In over ten years of being Governor, he’s been “schooled” a couple of times by the voters.
However, he does tend to make up his mind, set an agenda and go forward to act on his decisions, unless the majority and reason prove him wrong.
Yes, I can spell it. I used to collect postage stamps as a kid. The Germans called the place Tschechoslowakei ~ but they had a short version for their occupation stamps (during WWII). I don’t recall it right off hand, but apparently the Czechs and the Germans could both hear a sound nobody else can.
Are you being deliberately dense about what I wrote?
Of course no one will stop me **NOW**.
Do you honestly believe that a wall that could keep Mexicans out couldn't be used by evil people to keep Americans in?
By the way there is plenty we could do to discourage illegal immigration:
** No medical care. Stabilize the patient and fly them home
** No government K-12 schooling.
** IMMEDIATE pick up by the police if an employer finds that an applicant or employee has an fake social security card.
** Landlords must check citizenship and legal residency.
** Title companies must check identity and legal status when property changes hands.
He was on 6 weeks there, month @ home, and had 2 or 3 days in Moscow coming and going enroute to the end of the world where they were drilling.
He loved the Russian people. He was invited to the homes of some of the Russian engineers he worked with and finally caught on that they were serving him tea, crackers, etc, but never had anything themselves. He started taking tea, crackers, everything he could get into an extra suitcase.
The funniest thing was...the Russians couldn't keep toilet seats. They were stolen..so he started taking a toilet seat everytime he went back.
But he loved the people...said they were most like us of any place he had been, which was all over.
In hotels, restaurants, airfares...he said Americans were ripped off.
That’s the Vaccines for Children program

, and the School Based Health Centers. Both come from the Feds, got their start in the ‘70’s.
The latter is tied to federal funds sent to schools, through the Federal Maternal Child Health fund and Health Resources and Services Administration. These Health Centers are imbedded in Obama Care.

I’ve been waiting for people to figure out how much Medicaid/healthcare money is spent in our schools, and used to coerce a progressive agenda.
Thanks.
The 85 miles of ‘non-contiguous’ fence in Texas rural areas are like screening all the windows and taking all the doors off the hinges.
We’d be better off with a “screen” of border patrols.
Rick is right. No fence.
It was also his freakin state. He’s got control over the Texas Natl guard.
The Border Patrol watches the fence. The 2 part fence with the patrol road would do an excellent job cutting way back on illegal immigration.
Changing the anchor baby law, and welfare reforms to discourage illegals recieving benefits would take away the “pot of gold” on the other side of the border. Then E-verify for all employers.
Well then we’re back to a wall aren’t we. But he won’t do that.
Lookie here, Perry! 1,819 illegals captured on film, coming into the USA illegally - in a short period.

This is merely a path, no wider than 4’ at the most. And, we are talking about a border that is 2,000 miles + long! It is uncomprehensible to even THINK how many get into the US by these thousands of miles of 4 foot wide ‘paths’ on our open borders.
I will not vote for another ‘open border’ candidate running for POTUS. EVER again!
(Can anyone imagine what all these ‘crossers’ are costing us as tax payers?)
I talked with a dear friend tonight, who spent the last week at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix with many tests run on her husband, who is in very bad health. She is getting bills from her last visit there, that she thought Medicare and their supplemental insurance would cover........but it is not. She said she wished she was an illegal alien, and then she could get free health care at any emergency room in the country.
“I oppose a fence too. Too expensive and will not work. “
Well, the fence in Israel worked GREAT there. Yes, it would cost a few billion, but unlike Green Energy ‘investments’, there would actually be a return...a HUGE one.
...sorry for the double post.
