There are a couple of ways to look at this.

Her l;awyers say she was charged in 2008 and it took this long to bring her to trial.
Thats too long, case dismissed.

I don’t know why she doesn’t simply say the kid is lying and she is not guilty.

If the kid was truly suicidal and having sex with this teacher kept him alive she is a heroine.
Let’s see how far that gets her.

Anyway the lawyer is right everyone is entiotled to a fair trial in a fair amount of time. Waiting 3 years is too long for her to have to face a trial.

Part of the problem is that folks keep trying to expand the definition of pedophilia. Pedophile acts are disgusting damaging and almost always horrific. That is because they is acts done against prepubescent children.

Frankly, if it were up to me pedophiles would just be killed upon conviction.

But a 15 year old adolescent male engaging in sex with a 40 year old woman isn’t pedophilia.

It my be weird and creepy in many cases, but it IS NOT pedophilia.

I have to agree that it's not pedophilia. I also, personally, take into consideration that it was apparently a long-term affair. One of the marks of a pedophile, as far as I can see, is that they seem to want to get as many different victims as they can. The only time they stick with one is when that one is either a captive, or too afraid to end it, but miserable. So I'd want to know how that boy felt about it then, and how he feels about it now.

In my school, when I was in sixth grade, one of the girls in my grade developed a crush on the young math teacher (he was about 25). They clearly hit it off. By high school, there were rumors about them. She graduated and... they got married. That was almost 30 years ago. They're still together.

Now, I don't know what age she was when things got serious. Not 6th grade, I'm pretty darn sure, but... maybe younger than was appropriate. But I look at the end result and I can't call him a pedophile.
