Texas Gov. Rick Perry may be surging in polls of Republican primary voters, but his party's Insiders aren't convinced he'd be the best general election candidate. More than two-thirds of Republican Insiders say Mitt Romney has a better chance than Perry of defeating President Obama in 2012, according to this week's National Journal Political Insiders Poll.

If “insiders” are the same as “RINOs”, then of course THEY might be “better off” with Romney as the candidate. Chances are, that Romney could pull off a win, but at the cost of the Congressional and Senate elections taking place simultaneously.
A solid Conservative, who will not run away from the tough decisions on cutting the budget deficit and closing the gap without borrowing, will by the sheer audacity of staking out the path we shall have to follow, pull along a sizeable number of like-minded members of the legislative branch as well.
Romney cannot be relied upon to deliver the message, nor to follow through with the necessary reforms if he does succeed in securing the job as President.

Yes, you'll still be voting--for obammy. Then that would be a problem for the insider dimwits to consider before, or they'll have to deal with the consequences after...again.
The “GOP insiders” might be better off with Romney but the rest of us won’t be!
“Better off” translation: Will be a gracious loser to the Punk, just like Juan McCain!
Insiders?
Name them.
so we can beat some sense into them...
There is really very little difference in either one. You can keep them both.
So the ‘insiders’ like Romney? All the more reason to support Perry! The ‘insider’ are the people who got this country into the mesws it’s in! Screw them!!
So what? It may just mean that Myth could get about 350 electoral votes, including Michigan and NH, and Perry only 325 or so. All you need is 270.
That’s probably true. If this were football, I’d say, sure, put the GOP jersey on Romney and see if he scores enough points to win. The problem is that it’s a country, the greatest free country in the history of the world and the greatest hope for humanity between now and Christ’s return, and Romney is not the person this country needs. Romney may be willing to wear our uniform, but he’s a big government democrat through and through.
Ok, it's propaganda 101. The powers that be know that the base zeitgeist is anti-establishment right now.
So they take two establishment politicians like Perry and Romney, annoint one "the evil insider choice" and in doing so soldify support for another candidate as the fake "outsider" (Perry) who they also wouldn't mind getting the nomination.
Glad you have it all figured out..........
“There is no state Perry can win that Mitt Romney won’t.

Uh....Forida and North Carolina come to mind.
What these insiders say we lose in moderate voters we are likely to more than make up in base voters. We need to energize our base during the primaries and not scare off enough of the squishy middle during the general election. If Perry becomes our nominee and concentrates on economics, we will win the next election. I have no doubt about it.
Eff them. They were equally “brilliant” in 1980, supporting Bush I against Ronaldus Magnus.
Hope you're not one of the gullible that falls for this tactic and goes "Oh, yeah. I'm gonna really stick it to Washington and vote for the guy they hate, Perry".
Honestly, I think if there ever was a candidate with in striking distance of the White House that jeopardized that multi-trillion dollar brothel on the Potomac, it would be fixed it with a 50 cent cartidge.
Insiders, i.e ROVE
