Absolutely agree that the first step has to be to cut any and all federal funding of any and all institutions that provide abortion services.
Starting with planned parenthood. It’s my firm belief that without taxpayer dollars, they will close.
This is why Obozo wants to ram O-care through. It’s the only way to bail them out.

The people voted in 2001 to allow bonds - debt - for roads and transportation for the first time. Our debt is still almost all the sort, like student loans and bonds for roads, that is called “self-supporting.”
That means that it is paid for by the interest payments as the bonds and student loans are paid off.
By the Texas Constitution, we are not allowed to have more than 5% of our debt that is not self supporting. In fact, we have decreased non-self-supporting debt.
And, we had received an *up grade* in our bond rating this month.
That's a great point Tammy. Obviously abortion is a decision that can never be undone. Times change, people change. And while I am not a woman I know I could never live with the thought that I took the life of an unborn child. I don't mean to lessen the impact of the trauma of rape or incest, but to me abortion would be adding an additional level of trauma to what has already occurred. Thank you again for sharing.
True, I'm surprised he didn't "send it back to the states" to determine his V.P. pick. I'm sure the 50 state legislatures will choose someone ideal since they're all-wise and all-knowing government bodies. Heck, let's have the state legislatures pick out Perry's whole cabinent too.

I would also allow (but not recommend) abortions in the event of rape, or to save the life the mother.
I would NOT allow abortions in cases of consensual incest. The liberal scare tactic of "what if a girl is raped by her own father?!" is already covered under the rape exception. Any other circumstance of a pregnancy would result from a consensual incestuous relationship, and a woman arguing "I slept with my second cousin, therefore I want an abortion" wouldn't sway me. The "potential generic defects" due to incest is a red herring as well. Studies have shown a child is far more likely to have generic problems when a mother over 40 is pregnant. If it's allowed for incest because of "potential" generic problems, then you'd have to allow all women over 40 to get an abortion on demand. Also, we're talking about potential generic problems. Most of these women demanding an abortion are pregnant with perfectly healthy babies, they just want to be spared the "embarrassment" of being pregnant and answering questions about who the father is.
After reading all the posts, it looks like there are a lot of good comments on the pro-life issue, but I just wanted to make note RE the article you posted that I’m glad to see Rick Perry has committed to a pro-life VP nominee. While all conservative would tolerate no less than that, he must be aware that such a stand could alienate some independent and Democrat voters in the general election... YET he was still willing to take that stand for all to see.

But they’re not motivated by raising mountains of money or covering for useless, unprincipled Republicans.
They’re simply dedicated to stopping the daily butchering of more than 4000 little, helpless, defenseless boys and girls, which is being done contrary to the first principles and primary purposes of this free republic.
Killing an innocent person for the crime of another is barbarism.
It also destroys the principles of the Declaration and the Constitution.
I would have the GOP relentlessly appoint young stainless steel judges to SCOTUS and every inferior federal court who are absolutely committed to forcing Roe vs. Wade to join the infamous Dred Scott decision in the dustbin of history. Bring cases to the court only when the judiciary has been adequately "reformed."
Those judges should also be just as committed to the individual right to keep and bear arms, to dismantling the Kelo decision allowing governments to take people's homes for commercial developers to maximize local tax revenues, to protecting the sanctity of marriage as a matter between one man and one woman (all human and no space aliens, transgenders or other members of the wierdo American community), to the right to worship, as commonly understood, free of gummint interference and to the right of parents to direct the education of their children and the terms of that education and to "creating" no more "rights" to alternatively affectioned anything (no twelvesomes, no household pets as significant others. etc.).
Make this a political war over the judiciary, its meaning and its obligations. When the liberals scream over each appointment like banshees doused in Holy Water, pile on more such appointments in the bureaucracy (lifetime if possible) as well as the judiciary. If the liberals have the votes to frustrate lifetime judicial appointments, make recess appointments as necessary and cut the liberals out of the process. Then make permanent appointments when we have the votes. Apply to the judiciary the enthusiasm that Pelosi, Obozo and Reid applied in the attempt to destroy our medical system.
Start the process of constitutional amendments as necessary to institutionalize conservative gains (including balanced budget requirements without escape hatches for jacking taxes to balance the budget in the absence of genuine disasters or major wars).
Wage political war on the issue of what is NORMAL and what is not. Chaz Bono is NOT normal. Neither is Pelosi nor the Islamonutcase Congressman Carson (?) from Indiana who claims the Tea Party wants to lynch him and other blacks nor Senator Nancyboy Kirk of Illinois posing as a Republican nor Code Pink nor Ron Paul and the anarchoPaulistinians posing as Republicans nor drug legalization advocates and other pushers nor.... well, you get the idea.
Also, the default position ought to be the reversal of each and every executive order of Slick Willy and Obozo unless proven useful beyond a reasonable doubt (da*n few in that category).
Learn to laugh in the faces of our enemies and to ridicule them in person and behind their backs. There is absolutely nothing they hate more than being laughed at. Read Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals and Reveille for Radicals and apply his brilliant tactics to decent causes for a change, wherever morally one may do so.

I was thinking about your thread and decided to check out a few candidates and what they have done for the pro-life cause.
I found it interesting that Perry not only said he would choose someone who was pro-life but that he would choose a pro-life ACTIVIST.

From all accounts, all of the major Republican candidates are pro-life (if you count Romney’s switch to a pro-life position), many being and voting pro-life but only one whose name is tossed around as a possible VP pick seems to stand out as an “advocate”, and that is Marco Rubio.

While I would not claim that Marco Rubio would be the ONLY potential VP running mate Rick Perry might be considering, it certainly would look like Marco Rubio could fill the shoes of one pro-life individual who is passionate enough to do more than talk the talk.
The perfect can be the enemy of the good. Tragic but true nonetheless.
I think there are more people who are dedicated to stopping the daily butchering than you allow. You are letting your own version of partisan politics (yes, that’s what it is, people you don’t like can’t possibly be doing any good in your eyes) sway your judgement.

I don’t know what more you want. He pushes pro-life legislation. He signs pro-life pledges. He pledges to appoint pro-life people to political and judicial slots and has done nothing as governor to indicate otherwise and yet the Great Internet Guru EternalVigilance who can See The Truth Where All Others Fail, proclaims Perry non-Pro-Life.
I think it’s time for you to GET a life.
