The man who led the controversial Fast and Furious anti-gun-trafficking operation will step down as the interim head of Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Justice Department announced Tuesday as it named a new acting director for the agency.
Kenneth Melson, the bureaus acting director, on Wednesday will move to the Office of Legal Policy, where he will be a senior adviser on forensic science, the department said without making reference to the failed gun-tracking operation that is alleged to have ultimately put guns into the hands of criminals. Dennis Burke, the U.S. Attorney in Arizona who oversaw prosecutions in that state related to the Fast and Furious operation, is also stepping down, the department said.

In a separate statement, Holder commended Burkes decision to place the interests of the U.S. Attorneys office above all else in stepping down.

"all else" in this context includes (among other things):
- the lives of innocent Mexian and American citizens killed by Fast and Furious guns, how many we will never know
- the family of murdered U.S. Marine and Border Patrol Agent Brian terry
- the truth

Melson’s Silence Bought:
“Breaking: the U.S. Justice Department will reassign embattled ATF head Kenneth Melson.” http://wsj.com
As always. The truth is the first to go. Hell awaits.
Nothing like being rewarded for illegal activities. Guess that is par for Obama’s administration.
I guess this means that there will now be an Acting Acting ATF Chief.
This scandal trumps the plame fiasco where Libby went to jail. Some liberal journalist could really make a name for himself/herself if they did the right thing here and investigated. Their first black president means more to them than the truth and the country. obama is skating on just about everything but it will all catch up with him soon enough. You can lie and cover up but so long.
They throw us the finger, laugh about it, and then push the gun control this was intended to cause.
Wow, this is the single worst Administration in Americas history.
Theyll probably immediately put Kenneth Melson to work on content or subject matter at the Office of Legal Policy that will preclude him from future comment or testimony.
Doesnt that just tidie things up nicely.
Lots of swords being fallen upon today...yet the MSM can’t be bothered to publish the truth for all to see.
Holder needs to be prosecuted next.
Big news
He’s taking one for the team.
.....save change the players in 2012.
..and pray we have time left.
Either someone found dirt on Melson - Chicago style - or he has been promised protection for himself/his family/his pension if he shuts up and takes this wonderful new job opportunity!
Whichever it is, I pray that Darrell Issa keeps digging - the NYSlimes tried their best to slander him last weekend and he came out swinging! He knows this is dirty all the way to the White House. He just has to find someone who is willing to talk under oath and then people will be beating down his door to offer info in exchange for immunity.
However, having lived through the Clinton years, I must admit that the media is pretty da&n good as ignoring things they don’t want covered so I am not holding my breath that this whole sordid mess will actually see the light of day!
Too bad this anti 2nd Amendment bum isn’t in Leavenworth.
I know we are a republic but we act like a democracy & of all democracies we must be the most corrupt. We are doomed to big time failures as it now can't / won't be turned around.
A special prosecutor is necessary. This Justice Department cannot investigate itself. And high officials are involved in what is alleged to be a cover-up.
And now the US Attorney for Arizona resigned today, too. I wonder how they’re taking care of him?
