Is being lesbian, "gay," bisexual, or transgender a special talent? FRC's Peter Sprigg says a church-affiliated college in Illinois apparently thinks so.
Elmhurst College in suburban Chicago has added to its application form a question regarding sexual orientation, making it the first school in the U.S. to do so. Reportedly in an effort to increase campus diversity, the 3,000-plus-student school is asking applicants: "Would you consider yourself to be a member of the LGBT community?" (See earlier story)
Peter Sprigg of the Family Research Council says the school is treating those who identify themselves as homosexual as a privileged class. "As though they consider that a desirable characteristic, like playing the cello or ... being a good basketball player. [They're essentially saying] if you're LGBT, that's a special talent we want represented in our student body."
Sprigg points out that LGBT students could qualify for scholarships worth up to one-third of the tuition at Elmhurst, which is affiliated with the United Church of Christ. "It illustrates again how absurd the notion is that homosexuals are profoundly victims of discrimination in today's society ....," he states.
Elmhurst, which offers a focus on LGBT issues in its Intercultural Studies program, claims that answers to the question will not play a role in the admissions process. The president of Elmhurst, S. Alan Ray, says the question was added this year because it allows the school "to live out our commitments to cultural diversity, social justice, mutual respect among all persons, and the dignity of every individual."
A pro-homosexual organization, Campus Pride, has congratulated Elmhurst for "setting the bar."

Is being lesbian, “gay,” bisexual, or transgender a special talent?
“No, we’re not homosexual, but we are willing to learn.” - Russel Ziskey
Can I ask a stupid question?
If the gay agenda was all about being left alone and being tolerated and all that, why would there be recruitment and scholarships for LGBT students?
If people to go to college to get an education, and be educated in subjects such as history, literature, or technical fields in the sciences, what do any of these prominent fields of study have to do with sex? What do they have to do with either heterosexual sex or homosexual sex? How does sex behavior of any kind enter into it?
I know they are stupid questions in a liberal world, but I think about this sort of thing, as to how “gay” issues seep into areas where it seems out of place.
Well, the men supposedly have remarkable and innate fashion sense. Not so the lesbians. Not sure what their special talent is.
Just claim to be “Bi” and say that at this point in your life you are more attracted to people of the opposite sex.
Then get the extra benefit and cloward and piven the fools.
Yes, I agree with that prayer; it is shocking to me (still) to see/hear things like this, and very sad.
My niece attends Western Michigan and figured the game out early (thank God she doesn’t play it)
She calls them LUGs (Lesbian Until Graduation). They do it because they have recognized that there are certain advantages afforded to being part of an “oppressed” class.
Everyone should answer YES on that form.
Everyone should say they are some minority on every form.
Maybe that would end this nonsense.
Television and tacos.
Seriously, if we're at the point where the same person can be rejected from a college if straight, but accepted if homosexual, how is this not intimidation and coercion to adopt deviant sexual practices? This college ought to be stripped of all tax-funded benefits (including student loans) and any church affiliated with this ought to be publicly shamed (and arguably dismantled entirely as being destructive to its originally intended ends).
Exactly
I took my 8 year old son to the clinic a couple weeks ago and was shocked to find a question like this on the admission paperwork. The wanted to know “sexual orientation” and listed hetero, gay, transgender, bi-sexual. They also asked a question about race. I left both sections blank cuz it’s none of their damn business!!!
My husband wondered how many husbands/wives will be sitting next to their spouse as they get the suprise of their life when they notice their spouse checking “bi-” or “homo”, etc...! LOL!
Wasn’t there a time when people pretty much kept this kind of information to themselves, only sharing with those whom they had some sort of trust?
Of course, that trust was often abused, resulting in a considerable amount of misery to the subject, but mostly, the rest of us were not troubled by our consciences and grievous guilt loads, the only things that make open practice of deviant behavior acceptable for the obnoxious.
“to live out our commitments to cultural diversity, social justice, mutual respect among all persons, and the dignity of every individual.”
One has to ask, if you treat people differently, how does that foster mutual respect?
Carpet cleaning?
Instead of placing them in asylums for the criminally insane, they’re metriculated, given PHDs in order that they teach Gay, lesbian and transgendered history.
Hillary and Mad(c)ow will be invited to speak to the little perverts.
“Just claim to be Bi and say that at this point in your life you are more attracted to people of the opposite sex.”
As one freeper put it “I’m bisexual. I have sex with women and myself”.
It’s funny to think about the “gay” stereotypes when it comes to fashion.
The gay men seem to have the fashion sense.
But lesbian females seem NOT to have any fashion sense. Instead they wear flannel shirts and many have mannish appearances.
Isn't that what Zero's church is affiliated with (the one of Rev. GD America Wright fame)?
I wonder if Elmhurst cares about intellectual diversity
